After the tripping incident with Louisville, and him swinging his arms and elbows when he was on the ball this last meeting, it was coming to him. Maybe I went overboard saying he needed it, but it was definitely coming to him.

Kids make mistakes. I guess Justise Winslow needed an elbow to the face too? I mean, if the same player he tripped in the first game tripped him, maybe you could say he had it coming. But this was a completely different situation where a Louisville player got butt hurt because Allen made accidental contact while making a play for the ball and decided to go thug on him.

I find it kind of funny that so many people talk about Duke players doing the head whip to try to draw a foul as if Duke players are the only players that do it because I've seen other players do it

It's not ALL he does, I've just seen him do it a decent amount. Once again - it doesn't change how I feel about him at all, I love his winning mentality and I agree whole heartedly he drives like a mad man, but the head flailing really is something he does.

Stuff like this.

See 1:49-52 a@$%@#%. The ND's elbow clearly comes into contact with Grayson's face -- at which point Grayson pulls his head back to get away from the contact. You know you have no leg to stand on when the only thing you can find is a play where an elbow very clearly ran into his face.

I frankly think it's about time for the trash to be taken out.

I think there were two culprits. One, Ingram -- who was a critical part of our gameplan for beating the press a couple weeks ago -- just didn't seem to have the requisite energy and focus. Hence, 10 turnovers. I think that was a huge issue. Two, I'm sure we almost certainly didn't have the energy to have any kind of real practice in advance of the game.

As for the "meltdown" point, I don't buy that at all. The game really turned against us when foul trouble forced us into a zone defense (that has been regularly torched all season) + thornton getting injured, which forced us into a big lineup with Jeter and Plumlee that we've basically never played all season. It's hard not to ignore those major issues. I really wouldn't take much from that game other than the fact that injuries to important player / fatigue got the best of us.

aah555 -- you and I are probably agreeing more than not, the metal meltdown was a bunch of factors; fatigue, fouls, frustrations. I think they all play a role.

We are playing so thin and with every injury I am kind of expecting a change in strategy. We have 8 guys.....nope now we have 7 guys.....better get someone else in....nope they'll just play harder......now we have 6 guys.....better get someone else in......nope they'll just have to play harder.....

There is no way that guy is a Duke fan. The trolling is transparent.
No, no, he clarified that maybe -- maybe -- saying Grayson needed an elbow in the face was a little overboard... but he definitely had it* coming to him.

(*"It" being an elbow to the face.)

This guy is totally legit.

If "totally legit" means "completely idiotic", then yes -- totally legit.

The Duke hate is alive & well. I'm loving it!

Glad we could provide Louisville with their season highlight. Their program screwed up, self imposed ban & Duke game became only salvation. Pitino should put that energy into monitoring his own extra curricular behavior & that of his players.

Only Duke players flop. Everybody knows that. Tyler Zeller was a gutsy player who just drew a lot of contact.

These are just so amazing to me. He was terrible at this. I think these should be pinned. Thanks for posting them once again for our benefit as well as the THR lurkers and trolls. Of course they probably think Zeller really did get physically abushed. OFC

Live ball turnovers and critical rebounds are being overlooked here. The technical fouls didn't help, but I get it. B Ingram's body language was less then impressive as well. Overall, we showed heart and fought through the injuries and fatigue. Hopefully, none of the injuries will linger.

It's not a difficult concept, he tripped a player last meeting and then he goes on the ground here and swings his elbow around like a mad man. The Louisville player clearly isn't having it and elbows him. It was coming to him, when you do things like that you can't expect to not get hit back. Once again, I'm sorry you disagree but that's just how it is. They already probably had not so great feelings towards him after that dirty trip he did last game. Keep saying I'm not a Duke fan if it makes you feel better. Done responding to this thread - this argument is going no where.

What?? Grayson did nothing wrong when he got elbowed in the face Saturday.. He was merely fighting hard for the ball. Absolutely nothing dirty at all that I saw. Maybe you saw something I didn't.

Go to THR, they are definitely more in-line with your views and feelings. You will get along famously there.

You aren't a Duke fan, you're not fooling anyone, mock indignation included.

You actually do see pretty clearly that grayson elbowed him in the head. With that being said, I don't think it was malicious at all, unlike the elbow grayson received.

It wasn't grayson that caused this, it was the officials allowing the game to play out like it did where Louisville was just allowed to maul duke. Ingram responded poorly to the physicality and the officials called the worst charge i've ever seen on grayson but it is what it is. I actually moved on pretty quickly from the game as I thought Louisville would wear duke down with the press, and dominate second half, I just didn't expect duke to shoot so well giving them a good chance and in my opinion would have won with a fairly officiated game.

You can tackle someone wrong in college football and be kicked out of the game but in basketball if you elbow someone in the face on purpose you're not thrown out? Good job officials.

Jay Williams just hit the nail on the head in an ESPN interview, "Pitino not taking enough blame for the off court issues".

I had to watch it a couple times but yes it does appear that Grayson may have elbowed him while fighting for the ball. I still believe it was incidental and not purposely done. I still stand on my belief that he did nothing wrong here unlike the incident when he tripped the player.

I think if you watch grayson play 2 or 3 times a year then he's the type of player that really really annoys you. Watching grayson every game you realize he is getting hit and creating contact all game every game and keeps coming back for more so I tend to think he's tough as nails. I don't think he does anything malicious, instead i think he wants to get to the FT line like most great scorers.

When you constantly create contact, and you're not an intimidating player you're probably going to occasionally take some cheap retaliation shots. The types of things grayson does is great for organized basketball as it leads to him shooting fts, not so great for street ball. Clearly the street came out of one of Louisville's players Saturday.

I don't see any Duke or Grayson haters talking about how Damion Lee got in Grayson's face to talk trash after making a three pointer in the second half. Instead we just praise for what a great kid Damion Lee is. Pretty sure Grayson doesn't get in anyone's face after he makes a shot.

I guess Grayson's consolation is he has to look at his ring finger once in a while, while Lee will have to get some Orville Reddenbacher ready for March

Grayson must have had that coming to him, too.
