Just watched the top 5 plays. Matt had two nice assists, one to Amile on a breakaway and a sweet baseline dish to Bolden. Matt plays great defense, passes the ball well, has a great team first attitude, but yet catches heck on here most nights. Great job Matt!

The one to bolden was a bad drive and missed shot, not a pass as it hit bottom of rim. But I agree Matt is a great team player and playing good D.

Players that k typically defends are his personal favorites, great team players, smart, hard workers, but not the best players at this level.

Does anyone else think that when we are fully healthy, Kennard needs to stay in the starting lineup? He has been by far our best player....
When fully healthy your players pushing 30 minutes should be Allen, Luke, Tatum, and amile. With frank, Matt, harry, bolden getting around 20.

That sounds about right. I think it will come down more to game by game match ups and who has the hot hand. I got a feeling Matt gets more than 20 minutes, more like 25-28.

Luke, Grayson, Frank, Tatum, Amile need to be out starters going forward. I have a hard time seeing Luke not out there

We're no team yet, just a group of really talented players. It's going to take a little more time. No WAY can we sit Luke, the kid has ice water in his veins. Sorry, just got in from a stay in Asheville , Grove Park Inn , Biltmore , awesome Anniversary celebration. If you've never dined at the Blue Ridge....oh my.

Luke is better than JJ as a sophomore. Will be fun to watch next few years.

It's a shame we got 2 of our freshman back, yet we lost 2 guys in the process by not playing our bench in meaningless games.Well I don't know if we lost yet, but you know how these situations go. Will we ever get to develope our chemistry with everybody healthy? I'm beginning to wonder..Allen especially . The way K handled that situation doesn't make sense to me. Before anyone insults me for OH MY GOODNESS QUESTIONG THE GREAT COACH K who's incapable of doing anything wrong ..EVER!! Let me just say nobody's perfect, and yes I'm a duke fan...

I don't think it really matters who the starters are going to be....both Luke and Grayson are going to play 30+ minutes a night. How do you keep either off the floor?

IMO, I still feel Grayson and Amile are two starters for sure. Jayson will get to that point, but he's not there yet. Even if someone doesn't start, like say Luke, he's playing major minutes, regardlesss.

Let's just all agree that if we're healthy we have a pretty good problem on our hands.

Good point dj. I don't think it's going to matter much who starts. The guys who are producing most at both ends of the court are going to get the most. I don't think we are going to discussing tired legs this year if we can stay healthy. Also if games are close look for those that can be free throws and defensive stops in at the end. Good problems dj good problems. OFC

I just saw that. Did you enjoy? I'm actually going to the biltmore house today probably. I love that place!

Oh yes, had a blast. Did the Candlelight tour, excellent. Also went to Antler Hill to the winery for a tasting, ended up costing me a fortune, lol. We had a blast at The Grove Park Inn as well. Good times.

I just hope jeter stays off the floor ..doesn't deserve the minutes he's getting ..nor does Matt iron man jones.. people can say oh he does this and that defensively for us and locks down the best player every night ,yet we switch everything..lol.if Matt or chase starts another game I'll puke. Big vfrank deserves more minutes imo.

And what I think is great about that is it will be different from game to game. I think we will see a lot of lineup changes and that should be fun.

You're kidding yourself if you think Matt Jones isn't starting. My biggest concern is there is only one ball and several players who want to bounce it and shoot it. Kennard, Grayson and Tatum for 3. There needs to be a guy who doesn't need the ball so much playing with these guys. I suspect we'll start small except against really big teams. But let's get healthy first because until then it's an academic discussion.

My concern is the how the breakdown of the minutes is going to go now.Its already been shakey imo with the freshman on the bench..there's no way Matt jones should be starting or getting the minutes he has in the next few games and throughout the rest.i know K loves him but you can't sit the talent that we have..Jeter either. He kills us on the offensive side of the ball.hes absolutely no threat in the pick and roll and teams know it..you would think he's in there to rebound and play defense but struggles with those 2 things as well..He should not be seeing much PT now and I'm glad.Well see how the Florida game goes against a real opponent how the minutes are gonna be distributed .that is if Allen and Frank can go that is....I just thought that last game was a good game to build a little chemistry early..K decided no to ..he's the greatest though..I'm just a fan..

Matt jones is a role player.I think he would benefit much more, and the team as whole would, form coming off the bench and having far less minutes...and I didn't say he's not gonna start ..I said he shouldn't!

IMO, it's too early to tell who should be getting all the minutes since it's the 1st game game for the freshman and Giles still isn't back. K usually runs an 8 man rotation. He should bump that up to 10.

http://kenpom.com/index.php?s=RankAdjOE

^That is the adjusted offense ranking from KenPom. I guess Jeter is really "killing" Duke's offense, right?

Matt Jones is what coaches and people who understand the game call a role player. A guy who doesn't need to have the ball in his hands. A guy who plays tough, hard nosed defense. A guy who is also a leader on the court. Without guys like Matt Jones over the years, Duke would not be what they are today. Matt Jones is the best defender on this team. He is going to play and he is going to make Duke a better "team." Did you see what he did to Miles Bridges last week? I really don't get the dislike of Jones. It seems like some have no clue what makes a team. It would appear that all that matters to some is the flashy types with more "upside" while failing to realize what they actually do have. In Matt Jones that is a winner.

I couldn't believe that I saw a lineup of Jack, Jeter, Javin, Vrank, and Amile with Jefferson running the point. I thought that was just plain awesome.

I noticed that too. It was probably the tallest lineup we've ever had in a game. 6'7, 6'9, 6'10, 6'10, 7'0. Not quite like Roy when he played John Henson and the Wear twins on the wing, but impressive nonetheless.

I agree it is early.but if that's the case he should have been doing that from the start instead of playing everybody 40 min a game which resulted in frank and Grayson having to sit to (rest) which I hope that's what it is ..to sum it all up I just think K hasn't handled the minutes great so far..but that's just my opinion..I mean for god sake he put Grayson back in up 35 points ..Some of the things hes done thus far havnt made a whole lot of sense to me..that's just my opinion though.I know he's the greatest but these injuries are getting ridiculous..and his minute management isn't helping.

If your telling me jeter helps our offense ur blind.and I'm wasting my time replying to you in the first place .I don't care about Pom pom stats or whatever the heck it is..lol.i watch the games..and as for Matt yes he's a role player .and a good one that needs to come off the bench.and if you havnt noticed we switch everything pr a lot on defense so to say Matt jones is shutting people down is laughable.
