I haven't seen the game yet. I recorded it but took 2 siblings to the movies (one of whom I only sew a couple times a year). Here's what I learned from this thread:

People still don't seem to understand that K will do things his way and that there isn't anything we can do about it. Oh, and by the way, he might actually be pretty good at this coaching thing. That includes having a pretty good handle on who gets minutes. :)

Luke is breaking out at the right time. Amile is what we hoped he'd be.

This team has heart, and that's what makes it run.

Also, KEEP FIGHTING FELLAS! Don't stop until May.

i am. i was just concerned with injures! its been a nightmare thus far and i just don't want it to get worse before it gets better you know.i wish k would play his bench a little more at least early..im holding my breath every time a player hits the floor..the whole team just looks fatigued so early in the season, yet were still dominating.well not dominating but given the circumstances its impressive!

Welcome aboard and have fun. A lot of unc fans use lower case letters like I do when referring to the rival and I see you using just k in reference to Coach K so I though that might be the case. As far as using the bench I guess Coach K knows what's going on a lot more than I do. I was wanting to see more of Javan and Vrank today also but for whatever reason Coach K felt maybe a tired bunch of veterans would give better results than inexperience today. OFC

Marist- 3-for-25 (12%)
Grand Canyon- 3-for-12 (25%)
Kansas- 2-for-17 (12%)
Penn State- 6-for-21 (29%)
Rhode Island- 3-for-11 (27%)

Total: 17-for-86 (20%)

Would love to know what their 3 point shooting stats are for the season, taking out the Duke game.

Hell of a start for this team... almost undefeated, with serious holes in the roster. Big heart for these guys.

Defense looked good today. Very solid win, proud of our boys

I agree. Excited about the potential of this team. One thing about Grayson if I may. He is giving it all. When he and others get healthy Duke is going to be something to contend with and everyone knows it. Kansas definitely knows it and I'm not trying to take away from their victory over us. Whether Grayson leaves after this year or he decides to give us four years he will be a legend. Part Heyman, part Hurley, part Laettner and part Singler he is all Allen and I've never seen a player like him. I don't know how many of you saw his interview they showed at half time but that was all class. He admitted how wrong he was. Blamed no one else but himself and gave no excuses for it. That's my kind of man and I will call any fan of any other program a liar if they said they would not have him in their program. OFC

As of today:
Rhode Island: 40.3%
Penn State: 35%
Kansas: 23%
Grand Canyon: 34%
Marist: 32%

All of them shot below their averages against Duke. Man, KU is really struggling from 3.

Agree sky. He didn't shoot well but he passed the ball well and defended. But best was he got fouled hard and then a guy gave him a bit of a In between plays shove, but didn't give it any mind. Growth as a person.

Luke gives up some drives to the basket but being 6' 7" helps on the perimeter against the 3 ball. I would like for our freshmen to get healthy but it has given players like Kennard and Jefferson a chance to showcase their talents.

I was really impressed with how we handled their press in the second half. I keep hearing how we don't have a true PG but we do have a committee of guys who can handle the ball well and are really good passers.

That's a huge win. May help us not slide too far in the rankings this week. Praying for Tatum to return before the MSU matchup. Giles, Bolden, get well fellas....please.

Nice, thanks Q. Is that INCLUDING the Duke performances?

Really gritty win against a team that could win their conference and who will most certainly be in the NCAA Tournament. RI is going to have a good year and this one will look good on Duke's resume (especially when you consider the mash unit Duke currently is).

Curious to see how we will be ranked. We might still get a few number 1 votes but more likely number 2 or 3.

You keep writing OFC. What does that stand for? Am I showing my age if I don't know?

We started that a few years ago. Some of us older posters picked up on the term old farts because we had been Duke fans for so long. I thought that maybe we should leave a sign at the end of our post to indicate we were indeed old fart's so old farts club or OFC came to be. The requirements are 55 plus years of age or a Duke fan pre Coach K. I've been a Duke fan since 1960. I'm 64. OFC

Thanks. I was wondering what the requirements were for OFC.

Duke fan pre- Coach K. Hey I qualify then. Coach K visited my Church when he first came to Duke - he visited with Coach Chuck Swenson. Chuck continued at my Church and I knew him well for the years he was at Duke. He came with Coach K from Army. He went back to Duke and probably my old Church in 1994 in the Basketball office. I no longer lived in Durham.

Here's what Grayson had to say about the tripping incidents last year.

Duke guard Grayson Allen has always been an All-America talent.

But as a sophomore, his play was overshadowed at times by the negative attention he received for tripping opponents on two separate occasions.

During the Duke-Rhode Island game in the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman played a clip of an interview with Allen, who expressed remorse for his actions a year ago.

"Ultimately, I just made a mistake — two mistakes," Allen said. "They were big ones and mistakes I regret. Ultimately, I let my emotions get the most of me [and] in the heat of the moment just did something that’s unacceptable. Not something I’m proud of, not something I go around bragging about. I’m not trying to represent the program that way, represent my family in that way.

"So it was a tough time going through that," Allen said. "But for me, it’s just learning and moving on."

It’s worth noting that Allen hasn’t had any issues so far his junior year, and he remains one of the frontrunners for National Player of the Year.

I admire Grayson for being willing to talk about two incidents that happened a year ago. I wonder if he played for another school whether this would be long forgotten. Actually I don't wonder at all.

Yeah it's definitely far from the first time a college basketball player has done something like that and won't be the last. Heck, somebody on either Marist or GCU reached his hand out and grabbed Amile's ankle to trip him. Stuff like this, and worse, happens routinely but it's just not that big of a deal unless it's a Duke player. If Grayson had done what Josh Jackson did to Amile, slapping the ball out of the hands of an opponent, ESPN would probably create a 30 for 30 about it

Verga is a very good one along with Randy Denton and Mike Lewis but my favorite left a couple of years before Coach K coming. That would be Jim Spanarkel. Good post. OFC

agree, but we weren't necessarily forcing bad shots...we were fortunate for the misses...i like it though
Oh I get that angle. My point was more that when something becomes more of, well, something, then it has some merit to be a thing. If that makes sense. Of course there is only a small sample so far so we will have to see what happens, but the numbers say Duke is good at defending the 3 point line.
