A nice win with a bad night from RJ and Zion in foul trouble all game. Jones and White played great. Cam with such a big shot was good to see. He’s got to get out of this funk.
Bigger than that was RJ with a beautiful pass reacting to the help. That play and those floaters show he’s starting to adjust to people cutting off his obvious straight line drives. He was just cold earlier in the game.

To go with that we are a bit spoiled with this team. Yes we have things to work on. Yes we are not nearly at our ceiling. But we just beat the #12 team in the country and shot as bad as a team can for, well pretty much the entire game. If that isn’t impressive, I don’t know what is.

That alone doesn’t prove it though. Being 5th in points per game, 14th in assists, 5th in 2 point fg% and top 10 in offensive efficiency does however. And that’s all while having one of the lowest 3 pt FG%’s in the country.

A nice win fo sho. That won’t work against UNC or UVA, but then again we won’t shoot like that often either.

Very happy with the win. Of course Zion was the man but when the man was gone I saw some men take his place. Jack, RJ, Cam and Tre all had a hand in the finish whether it was making crunch time free throws, crunch time rebounds, crunch time blocks or crunch time steals. Team effort. How about this teams defense? Texas Tech is an outstanding team. They played hard and clean. We needed this game and we needed this win. We didn't shoot the ball well but we shot the ball well when it mattered. Best win of the season in my opinion. Showed what we are made of. OFC

Yeah, I think this win might be our best win also, Sky...considering all things. It's good to see Duke able to win games without having to score 90+ points every game.

Hey anybody know what Roy’s game plan will be now against us? Hint, it’s one word, and starts with a F....He'll have his diaper dandy’s legs good and flimsy, camel toes tucked in, and ready to rock and flop!

Dinner? Dang I’m about to hit the sack.

Yeah, it's been a long hard day, and dinner sorta got slid to the back burner. I'm outta here!

EDIT: I need to add some context to this post. I keep strange hours...go to bed around 3:30 to 4:00 am (that allows me to do my chores around the house while my wife is in bed), so breakfast is usually around 10 am, lunch around 3 pm, and dinner at 7:30 to 8:00 pm.

I’ll say it again, this team does what our last two teams didn’t do, and that’s hustle on both sides of the ball. Great win against a team similar to what we will see in conference play, and sweet 16/elite 8. I thought the refs were ok, with the one call on Zion questionable.
The loss to Gonzaga showed we can lose, and I’ll take that trade off any day. Sure we have some things to work on, but it’s very refreshing to watch the team I’ve pulled for for a long time play hard.

It’s a plus when that team that plays hard happens to be very talented. I’ll take effort in a loss over talent that goes half *** and wins.

Speaking of the Cheaters, Nassir’s been quiet on twitter lately.

Remember....we played Princeton.

Better? Just kidding :)

Still super impressed by this teams ability to win with its D. It starts and ends with Stones Jr. Loved that Cam hit the big shot toward the end, I feel like when he turns the corner a la Justise, Ingram, Tatum, it’s going to do wonders for our offense. Love our fight and love our team.

P.S. Jack is awesome

Here's what we had for supper. True southerners call it supper. Fried chicken, tater salad, baked beans and hushpuppies. Ice cold coke and some " nanner puddin" -in honor of hof coach roy williams getting to hang in chapel hill a while longer.

TTU fan here, curious your thoughts as an elite team. Are we heading in the right direction? Will we have a seat at the table one day with all the big boy teams?

Yes. Your coach is a rising star. Your team looks like old Duke teams who had to reply more on doing the dirty work (taking charges, playing hard on defense).

Not sure how long you’ll keep your coach at TT because the big boys will come calling soon!

I think we talked about it in the Texas Tech thread. I think I replied to you. A good tournament showing this season and keeping Beard through another contract when he might be the hottest new name in the country will go a long way to show your program is there. Right now you, Nebraska and Buffalo are in a really good place.

Without our defensive effort tonight, I believe this was a double digit loss.

You could definitely look a hell of a lot worse....Culver had to carry too much of the scoring load in my opinion

Thank you Lord for playwrs like Jones and White. White refuses let anyone just go at him in a match up, he is going to make you work for thw bucket and board.

Jones is the best perimeter defender in the country. Kid is locked in from the time the ball is tipped, absolutely loved it.

Refs were rewarding the flops on defense causing a ridiculous amount of offensive fouls. Rule change is needed so driving teams aren't penalized for lazy refs not recognizing this. Not blaming the players because they see they rewarded for this. Have to blame the refs for falling for it.

Tre Jones' defense seriously amazing. the way he can stick to a guard is pretty amazing to watch. He plays the whole game too.

I will make a point for all the people who said we were doing a good job spreading minutes around. It was a close game tonight and basically 6 people played. 7 if you count AOC’s 10 minutes. Bolden played 6 minutes. When things get tough we’ll always see that bench shorten up. Not sure how I feel about that, just a point for future conversation.

I don’t think that will change under K. He wants his best players to play. Unfortunately it cost us Zion tonight.

What I think can happen, is during ACC play, get some guys in the game during tough spots and maybe K will trust them for 5-6 minutes in a high profile battle. Which could be the difference of a few fouls for Zion or RJ.

The only thing about this game that was more annoying than our 3 pt shooting % was Dick Vital.

Dick had been good for college basketball over the
years but it is time for him to go to house.

Just thought I would mention this, since BluePhil has been dealing with an eye infection, who’s going to do the game ball poll? I realied during the game that we haven’t have had a game ball poll for the Princeton game yet. So that leaves us needing a game ball poll for both the Princeton game and the Texas Tech game.

I completely agree with that, a zebra that wins well over 1000 games doesn’t need to change his stripes. I don’t think we were tired in the slightest. And we know the players that would have played. Do you take Tre Jones out for Goldwire? Hell no, not tonight. I would like to see Bolden with more than 6 minutes, I think he’s earned it this year. But other than that I don’t have any real issues with the minutes tonight.
