If the majority of the game is played between the free throw lines its Duke, if its played under the basket its Kentucky. With the off chance Plumlee has the defensive game of his life...might offset much of Kentucky's advantage there.

I really like Scal Labissiere as an NBA prospect, but I'm not sure he's where he needs to be physically to be a dominant big guy against teams with size / length. Particularly, while Labissiere is incredibly skilled if he gets the ball within 6-10 feet, I'm not sure if he has the physical strength to establish that kind of position against teams with legit bigs who significiantly outweigh him at this stage. One of the big things that made Okafor and Towns unusual last year was that their bodies were way ahead of what you'd normally expect for a true frosh big, and could bully defenders to get to the spots they wanted. We really have no idea how Scal's going to look against stronger players. Scal's got enough skill to still hurt you taking 10-15 ft. jumpers over defenders -- but, at that point, that's a win for the defense b/c he's not collapsing the D, he's out of positions on the boards, and he's not going to hit that at a high-enough percentage to beat you doing that over a 48 minute game.

I do think this game comes down to guard play -- and particularly whether UK's quickness on the perimeter will disrupt Duke from getting into their offense + lead to lots of dribble penetration. If Duke can limit turnovers and get into its sets, I think this game starts to lean towards Duke. And vice versa, if UK can force Duke to put Thornton out there to relieve the ball pressure -- and, in turn, pushing Duke to go small to handle UK's quickness -- I think the game starts favoring UK. I think Duke's edge will be on the wings with the relative size / strength of Matt Jones and length of Brandon Ingram.

Why is it every unc and Kentucky fan, as soon as they don't like the facts getting in the way, ask if you're from North Carolina? That's neat that unc fans all attended unc and all Kentucky fans attended Kentucky. Don't be such a dumbass man. Somebody lock this thread up, it's slipping into seven levels of stupididty.
What facts? The game hasn't been played yet. If you shut Skal down and win the game then that would be different.

It was just a question, relax man.

As I said before, we aren't idiots. Everyone knows what you were insinuating. As Show said, it is cool that 100% of UK fans are UK grads. That is a very neat distinction. You would think they would mention that more frequently on broadcasts. I can't imagine there is another program in the country that can say that.

Don't you know there are really strict rules and parameters that tell you who you can and cannot be a fan of, and if you don't follow them you're actually not allowed to be a fan of that team?

Obviously not all Kentucky fans graduated from the school but the majority of BBN grew up in the state. Kentucky fans grew up following the program, through good times and bad.

I am sure most Duke fans here are true fans, I was curious as to how many here lived in the state of NC or attended Duke. Chill out

UK fan here. Just wanted to say good luck tomorrow and should be a good game. I'm no Duke fan (like all UK fans of course) but I can't disrespect--Coach K is one of if not THE all-time best.

I like to think our slight edge in experience and our ready-made studs Skal and Murray will lead us to a win (current Vegas line has UK by 4.5), but I honestly have no idea what to expect. K has certainly had UK's # during my lifetime as a b-ball fan.

Enjoy!

What the heck does living in the state have to do with being a fan??? I live in NC but even if I didn't I would be a Duke fan.. The fact that you think all UK fans live in KY is absurd as well. believing your program just like ours isn't capable of some bandwagon fans makes me laugh too. We are both national brands with WORLD wide fan bases

I said most are from Kentucky, it's a state school with tradition not a private school with one great coach.

Duke has a ton of bandwagon fans, not saying all of them are but there are a lot.

It's almost game day though and I am pumped, can't wait for the game.

You sound exactly like an UNC fan. A ton of band wagon fans? Just how do you come to that conclusion and don't come with the excuse about not being a Duke alumni. I don't know what your definition of a bandwagon fan is but every Duke fan I know is not one. UK and UNC fans have just as many Bandwagon: fans because you both have about a gazillion fans and there's no way that many ae alumni. So get off the bandwagon platform. I can't speak for all duke fans but the only time I will ever pull for UK is because of fans like yourself and that's really nothing to get excited about. We posters here are supposed o be cordial and nice to visiting posters but you make it tough buddy. OFC

I think sky summed up the boards feelings... I'll add that I don't know any Duke bandwagon fans either but I do know A LOT of Carolina or used to be Carolina fans that love em when they're good but you don't hear a peep from em when they aren't on top

UK fan here, my apologies for the over zealousness of some of my colleagues. I'm not sure why it matters at all where a fan is from or if they attended the school or whatever. People like schools for different reasons. I grew up in Northern Ontario as a Duke fan - frankly because Duke was really good when I started watching college basketball in 1987. I moved to Kentucky in 1996 and quickly turned into a UK fan and have been one since. I'm not sure how or why that would make me any less of a UK fan than someone who grew up here or went to UK. I have a great deal of respect for the Duke program and for what Coach K has been able to sustain over the course of 30+ years. Obviously I hope we win tomorrow night but if we lose I'll tip my cap and move on.

lol I said that most fans are from the state or have ties somehow to the program, as is the case with most fans of any program. Twist how you want I don't care, I never said you had to live in the state to be a fan.

Good luck Tuesday night

Earlier in this thread one of your own posters claimed that your 98 team was the best team that year even though you were beat and Kentucky won the Championship.
Ok so.... Why is it ok for UK fans to say that they were the best team last year and should be 40-0 even though we won the national championship, but I can't say that Duke was the better team in 1998. No joke.. I have heard UK fans say that they didn't DESERVE to lose to Wisconsin as if they were entitled to the national championship and 40-0. And to answer your question, I'm not from NC. I'm from Kentucky and currently live in Kentucky. I even went to UK, but I have always loved the history of Duke basketball and the legend that is Coach K and have never liked the arrogance and the sense of entitlement that UK fans think they should have.

No. Lol! I finished up at UK in 2013. I do know this it's not all UK fans. There are a bunch of students who are fans of other schools. I met a couple of Kansas fans up at UK. There are Louisville fans, UNC fans and yes.. There are Duke fans on UK's campus. U have struck my curiosity though. what's the video about?

You missed the point, you guys are talking about how UK fans think we had the best team last year without winning the title. Yet you guys claim to have been the best team in 1998 when you did not win it all. This means that your fan base is hypocritical.

Yes, it really is laughable. If the NCAA tournament rewarded being the best team in a 7 game series, Duke would have won the national title in 86-87, 98-99, and 01-02, and was arguably the betting favorite in 03-04 & 05-06. In the end of the day, you need to win the games when it matters. In the Coach K era, Duke clearly would have far to me gain than UK from the game of giving out national titles based on regular season performance.

(1) Trying to have an argument with an entire "fan base" is just dumb. Sorry to break it to you. Different people have different opinions. (2) Personally, I don't care if UK fans personally believe they had the best team. I think the point is it's irrelevant in college basketball who had the best team. What matters is who won. Duke won. UK didn't. Just like it doesn't matter that Duke IMO had the best team in 98-99. We almost undoubtedly did, but UConn are the champions -- and they deserved it. They won it when it matters. There is no such thing as recruiting national championships, nba draft national championships, 38-0 national championships, etc. There is 1 national championship each season. And that's frankly all that matters. Duke was the national championship last year and that will forever be the most important development from that season.

couldn't have said it better. I have a story I want to see if u can relate which I'm sure you can. I was eating dinner one night with my family and I was wearing my Duke hoodie. This family close to us was finishing eating and getting ready to leave. They were passing by our table and I assume it was the father, came up to our table and told my parents that they didn't raise me right because of the garbage I was wearing. I looked at him said, yes they did. They raised me not to be a UK fan. He gave me this prickish look and walked off. My family and I were like what a jerk. I'm just wondering if u have had those same experiences.

Going to be a fun game and hopefully competitive . Won't mean that much at this time of the season . Hopefully no injuries ! We do need this game more than you guys simply because we are 1 and seven in our last eight games against you guys ! Man I hated typing that . lol

Don't really care who lives where, this game will be good as it always is. The key will be what Duke will do with Skal Labissiere as I think both teams have fantastic guards. Being a UK fan almost always means I'll predict a victory for the Cats but Coach K really is good at having his team prepared to play anyone no matter if its November or March. Good luck and may the best team win in Chicago tomorrow.

I think we are being a bit to cocky due to the hangover from last season. Yes, if we had Okafor , WINSLOW , and Jones Tuesday....Kentucky would be taking an *** whipping of epic proportions. We don't. Murray IS damn good and Skal WILL cause us trouble. Our offense hasn't found that flow yet and UK will hurt us in the paint. This team, exact opposite as most here, this one is gonna take a little time before they are ready, we'll be better than Kentucky late this season rather than early.

Yeah, if we had WCS, Karl MF'n Towns, Trey Lyles, and Devon Booker we would have a chance. jk

60 year olds don't troll and i got the humor. I thought the statement from the Cat fan about Skal being the best big man at shooting was funny too.

Who says he is that far off? He hasn't proven anything yet. But, that jumper is silky smooth.
