Newest trailer dropped and without having any knowledge about it, it looks fantastic. Never watched the old movie (although I know it’s beyond awful). Recently picked up the book and plan to start it once I finish what I’m reading. Any of you who are familiar with it think it’s gonna be any good?

The book is unbelievably good on so many levels- probably my favorite fiction novel. I’ve never come across anything with so much depth and varying themes. You can read it several different times focusing on different things (religion, politics, environmental, human nature, etc) and come away reading it as a totally different work each time.

I have no clue how that can all be captured in a movie, although this one is supposed to be split in two. Not sure what hope I have of it but will definitely watch.

Well, it’s one of those books that just can’t be really translated fully to film, but I’m cautiously optimistic Denis Villeneuve will make a worthy attempt.

They’re different mediums, and that’s fine. Doesn’t have to be the same thing. Just hope the movie is 17ing great

The book is incredible. It's a book that no movie can do full justice too. Kind of
like the Lord of the Rings, it may be a decent movie....if you have never read the book.

So the first day I bought the book I read the first 8-10 pages and for whatever reason I had a hard time reading it. To me it seemed like there was an extremely high number of words that are only used in that universe and it was frustrating. I’ve read the lotr trilogy and the song of ice and fire books, so fantasy worlds with made up words isn’t something new. Maybe I was just having a bad day. I should be starting it in the next couple nights.

There are and it is hard to start because of that.
