NV @ NC
NC over NV at home. Not sure about NV yet but NC looks scary.
GN @ WV
Hard to believe one of these teams will be 0-2 after this week. Have to go with WV at home.
NN @ MV
Offense is on fire. Going with NN.
WS @ LP
My upset special of the week. Going with WS.
WN @ Joilet Catholic
Going with WN in what should be a track meet.

I am not picking anymore WV games. I might have jinxed them with my pick in a close gam last week. So Anom - you can either put me down for a "present but no vote" (don't they do that in congress sometimes?) for the entire season for WV OR you can put me down for an auto pick of. Win for WV for the entire season as I will never pick against WV under any circumstance (well maybe if they were playing Illinois...I'd rethink).

I have NC over NV fairly easy. 35-14. I saw a good chunk of the NC/GBN film and a smattering of the NV/MV film. The game speed of the two games were at very different levels in my mind. I would be surprised if NV keeps it within two TDs.

I have North over MV - big.

The last two are the toughest to call.

I have LP over WWS in a tight one. What worries me the most with my pick is 3 fold.
1. Is there any letdown by LP after big emotional win?
2. Not sure how good LP defense is? WV put up 34 points, but they do have some good offensive weapons.
3. WWS put a lot of yardage on WN Defense but couldn't punch it in. What if they can this week?

I have WN over JCA. WN nice ball control offense and bend but don't break Defense and I think they got a defensive score last week? I hear JCA is back so this could be a great one!! Go WN! I think everyone in the DVC is going to need the playoff point you win for the confernce!!!

Things are getting back to normal around here in our weekly DVC thread. NNFan is back picking his games, VooDoo is refusing to pick the WV game. (Last year he stopped picking the WV game in week 3!) He won't be able to hold out long and we will look forward to his WV insight and WV pick next week?
And I (Anomaly) will offer my humble opinion. I did not weigh in over the summer with my pre-season thoughts mainly because everybody else was spot on with NC, WV & GBN being the top dogs. Somebody (believe it was Edgy in one of his previews) said there is going to be a thin margin of error that separates the remaining teams. WWS/WN/NN/NV/LP all have a chance of going something like 7-2 if they stay healthy and get the breaks.
Last week I attended the WV/LP game. (Full VooDoo disclosure, not a parent just a loyal Lake Parker.)
As everybody pretty much agreed upon last week when making their picks WV was going to beat LP, but it was not going to be easy. We could analyze that came all day, especially the few balls slightly over thrown by WV, but bottom line, WV had two fourth quarter turnovers (sound familiar i.e last year WV) and nobody is going to win DVC games turning the ball over twice in the fourth quarter.
My Picks
NC over NV
NN over MV
WV over GN
WN over JCA
LP over WWS

I'm interested to see if WWS can rebound this week. They shot themselves in the foot and they lost against Wheaton North. You can't give games away and expect to make the playoffs.

The offense looked at times outstanding unfortunately they missed a FG, fumbled on the WN 1, got stopped at the WN 10 and had the 90 yard pick six. They need to finish drives, moving the ball wasn't the problem.

The defense looked really good outside of a long run and bad pass interference in the last minute of the game. The defensive line is big and very athletic so I just don't see them giving up a lot of points. LP QB is very athletic so it will be test to not only get a rush on him but to get him down.

This game is really a must win for the Tigers an 0-2 start may be to big if a hole to dig out of with this schedule.

Sounds like the Tigers are better than that WN score indicated, easily a 14 point swing. Would bet on WWS if there was a playoff rematch.

These kids have been playing against and with each other since they were 7 years old. If anyone is trying to make predictions on how either team will play this week based on that game they will be sadly mistaken. It rarely reflects on how either team plays the following week.

NV @ NC - Napervillle Central - But closer than last week.

GN @ WV - Waubonsie Valley - GN D must respond. Are they as good as the preseason and personnel hype? Tough rebound game for both teams.

NN @ MV -Naperville North -Good timing for NN to get MV, think they might have a let down after such an emotion filled game/comeback and aftermath. Does MV get their linemen back?

WS @ LP - Wheaton Warrenville South - WWS is better this season all around. Yes, game could have gone their way last week, except for the WWS failure to execute at the critical moments of the game. (Red zone, offensive drive before WN last possession and final defensive series). Close to putting it together. Not a slam, but WN did execute at the critical times and that was the difference. I don't think you can look at last weeks game as an indicator of what to expect form either WWS or WN. As far as LP, have always thought talent was there, lets see how they respond to playing as a favorite...can they get over the hump?

WN @ Joilet Catholic - Wheaton North

Central and Neuqua is a good game. Neuqua's D came to play. No running game for Central and a bunch of dinky throws out wide. One big pass led to the TD. Pretty even matchup but Neuqua needs to find a passing game.

Central scored on their trip to the red zone and Neuqua didn't. That's the difference.

Central with a 73 yd TD with 16 seconds left in the half. Damn.
14-0 Central at halftime.

Waubonsie up 21-0 at half over Glenbard North. Should be 24-0. They mismanaged the clock in the last 10 seconds at the GBN 5 yard line. Went for it but did not toss an incompletion or get out of bounds To save time for field goal. Oh well. Pretty solid first half by the Warriors.

Neuqua was trailing 17-7 and driving for a score and Escoff threw a pick. NV stopped NC and got the ball back. Pick 6 for NC. 24-7.

Game is a lot closer than the score.
