Dear Baby Jesus please let this happen.

The Lakers could look like this next year:
PG: Steve Nash
SG Kobe Bryant
SF Antawn Jamison (just signed a few hours ago)
PF Pau Gasol
C Dwight Howard

That team could kick some serious Heat *** next year.

No one on that lineup can run with him. He's not a stand still, isolation kind of PG... Not saying they wont be good, just not gonna be able to run... like the HEAT and THUNDER. Both of those teams have their faults as well. Heat, no really good big man. Thunder don't play defense and Westbrook won't pass. I wish Howard would have gone to the Nets or Bulls. That would have helped both tremendously.<div id="isChromeWebToolbarDiv" style="display:none"></div>

Dwight is not very tradeable b/c he'll only be open to signing an extension with 2 teams - LA and NJ so unless someone rolls the dice that's all the Magic can negotiate with.<div>
</div><div>And LA can offer the best player in Bynum, but he doesn't want to play for Orlando either. Why players hate Orlando is beyond me, but they do.</div><div>
</div><div>So Orlando is about to trade a top 3 NBA player for a bunch of mediocre draft picks. they should just ship him to Blazers for a year and tell him (we'll visit you after your surgery) - since every Blazer center gets hurt</div>

Could put the Cavs back safely in the playoffs. Hopefully Gilbert learned from LBJ of the need to provide those 2 with a solid surrounding cast

Howard has just now reluctantly started considering the Lakers after every chance to play in Brooklyn fell through. Someone said that because of Howard's dislike of Shaq, he was hesitant about going to the Lakers and following in Shaq's footsteps again.

I don't recall any player ever holding a team hostage to go to L.A. other than maybe Shaq.

Kobe held the hornets hostage when he drafted them.

I know Dwight just warmed up to the Lakers but they were pretty sure he'd eventually come around as I was.

I think if the Lakers get Howard, showtime is back in LA.

Boshis a 7 footer and James is 6-8 260. They are tough matchupsout on the floor and in the post. The Heat don't need a traditional center.

Only 2 teams held their opponents to a lower FG% than the Thunder. And Westbrook wasin the top 10 inthe league in assists.

Other than that, great post.

Perkins can guard Howard one-on-one.. and Howard isn't a dynamic post player to begin with.. Ibaka can guard Gasol.. Collison is a good back-up big. And OKC's perimeter people are gonna run circles around Nash and Jamison. Plus the Lakers' already weak bench gets weaker still. I'm not even sure they're better than San Antonio.

he told other teams not to draft him bc he wouldn't play for them.. I think the Hornets made the pick knowing all along he was gonna be traded to LA..as for Howard, he didn't wanna go to LA because Kobe called him and described him as playing a "Tyson Chandler" role for them and Howard wasn't too receptive to that. I guess he came around. But Orlando is still holding out as long as possible. Truth be told, they would've been better off trading him to Houston or Brooklyn if they're gonna take this deal. I'd hold on to him until the trade deadline, when Brooklyn will come calling again. And if not, I'd make him walk away from $30M to become an UFA.. where neither LA nor Brooklyn will be able to sign him unless he takes significantly less money

Nash is a waste? Really? Im assuming you only watched the highlights and saw the fast break highlights. Nash ran the pick and roll constantly with Diaw and Stoudemire. Ill imagine you will see that alot with Pau and or maybe even Howard.

Nash is a run the floor, get the ball to an open guy PG. The Lakers are a Kobe 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd type of team. Kobe can't run with Nash, he's in his MJ fade-away days now. Howard isn't a great post player, pick and roll player, FT shooter... The best addition the Lakers made is Antwan Jamison and he's slowing down as well. I'm not saying the Lakers will stink, I'm just saying the players they are signing don't play well with what the Lakers do... <div>
</div><div>Nash isn't a waste, he's just wasted on a team that isolates Kobe on offense for 80 percent of the game.</div>

Kobe was second in the league in scoring and Nash is 39 yet you think Kobe can't run with him?

The Lakers have not always isolated Kobe as much as they did last year. Mike Brown should have stuck with Triangle because it won five titles for L.A. and got other players more touches. Hopefully that will change this year.

It should also be noted that Kobe was only 17 when he was drafted. I wouldn't say he had much leverage at the time.

Nash ran pick and rolls for years in PHX. He doesn't need to run to be effective, though transition is something he excels at.

The Heat have Bosh and James. Yes, neither is a traditional foot on the block center, but there are few in the league who can post on the block and are better than what James or Bosh could do in the same position.

The Thunder don't play defense? Don't tell Westbrook, Perkins, or Durant that.

Westbrook won't pass? Huh, his stats sure tell a different story. And even if he didnt pass, why force him into the role of a pass first PG when that limits his effectiveness as a player?

Shaq had the best line ever aboutPhil's triangle offense - something to the effect of let him take it to the Clippers andsee how it works.
