this is getting exciting, you can really see how it is shaping up.

Looking from the Junction

Zoom - Looking from the Junction

At the center of West Side brickwork - pretty cool detail

Looking at NW corner from B.S. Hood/Barr Ave

Looking south at backside of expansion (notice guys in bright neon at top for scale)

Damn at the scaffolding! backside of expansion (notice guys in bright neon at top for scale)

Looking south at backside of expansion

looking west from NE corner - kind of get a perspective of how it meets up with West Side.

The lowest part of the bowl is supposed to be ready by football season. It might not be fully functional but it will be used for student section.

Ah, yes. The Mississippi State endzone student section. Because enough students weren't watching the game cheering instead of watching the jumbotron.

I'm getting kind of questionable on whether this will be operational for the first football game?

The lower bowl is seen in this photo

the lower bowl DS is referencing is just about complete.. it is the complete lower section in this photo. all that is left is installation of bleachers.

And does anyone know how we plan to fill the outline between each block of bricks? The new elevator shaft looks like a jenga tower

Those are brick faced pre-cast concrete panels

The elevator and stair shafts will be clad in those. Essentially they are huge panels that get installed by crane. They are normally 12'x40' ish, whatever is easy to get on an 18 wheeler. Can be bigger. They give a very clean look when installed on such a massive scale.

Here's a photo I took earlier in June. They're going to make it...

You can see in this one that the structure for the student seating has been in place for some time. All it needed back then was bleacher seats and some type of temporary accessibility. The west concourse is probably pressing them more at this point, but they'll have it ready too.

This is a 3MB file. Good for enlarging.

Damn, great pic. Thanks to you and everyone else that posted pics. It seems like they have made a lot of progress in the last week or two. It is going to look bad ***.

I think it is great for how fast they can install each panel. I am more interested at this point in knowing if they can at least hide the outlines between each panel a little bit so I know our stadium isn't a lego set

I envy you for getting inside the stadium

That is the one thing I haven't appreciated about this construction is the limited access inside the stadium. I miss being able to freely walk inside Davis Wade when on campus.

I would guess it will be an expansion caulking that will match the brick color. same with the cast detail panels (concrete color)... those will probably have an matching expansion caulking in those seams as well.

They'll finish them with color matched joint sealers most likely

They won't look any different than any other expansion joint in brickwork. That's my assumption, I'd doubt they would want to highlight the joints. That's a detail mainly used when the panels are plain concrete. These are pretty good panels, a few years ago the brick facing had to stop at the corners so you'd have a big mitered seam which looked hideous. They can now turn the corner with the brick. I'm pretty confident it'll look good when they are done.

As with any construction types of this nature where future expansion will take..

Damn, great pic. Thanks to you and everyone else that posted pics. It seems like they have made a lot of progress in the last week or two. It is going to look bad ***.

On top of/around the current phase, there is extensive groundwork and footings constructed. They cant go back later and add on to the ground supports. The erection phase after groundwork is laid only about 30-40% of the remaining work. The concrete and steel can move quickly now that its all in place. My understanding was that all seating in lower bowl would be completed by game 1. They still have plenty of time to finish it. The only question I have is accessing the seating if the bottom concourse is not completed. Unless they walk down to field level from either side and then up into the endzone from sideline concrete walkway.

Whatever they do, it won't be as bad as the "brick columns" that hold up the scoreboard @ The Dude...........

its hard to tell from the concept design. anybody notice any foundation being laid for one?

Thanks for all the great pics! I can't wait for football!

I do wonder, however, how long into the season will it take some misguided fools into bitching about whatever inconveniences are caused by the construction work.

There were supposed to be 2 additional elevators built on the west side and there was only one previously which would give us 3 total. So you have to think they are going to build one on the other side.

Pardon me, but there is an opening at field level in between the existing seats and the new end zone seats. What purpose will that serve? New visiting team entrance on to the field doesnt make much sense??

that's where the loge premium area will be

it's a field-level premium club area that anybody can buy a pass to. Jerry-world has one and a lot of newer stadiums have them as well

There are 2 "boxes" on each end of it... and the main part of what you see is called the "Gridiron Club". It's a $750 additional fee that, I believe, as many as 1000 season ticket holders at any location in the stadium can purchase access to. Works like a general club -- except there isn't going to be seating capacity for more than a couple hundred to actually watch from that spot in the endzone...

The loge seating is the small "sections" of wheeled premium chairbacks with tv monitors just in front of the new skyboxes...

If you are speaking of the area between the existing structure and the new (which it appears you are), that area is an access tunnel. Its for equipment to get into the stadium and out (vehicles, carts, etc.). All stadiums that are enclosed have them. It won't be as noticeable once complete. Right? Or have I missed something? Also, not to be to much of a party pooper... I love all of the pics. But, has anyone gotten updated ones of the West Side concourses???
