with all the cws hullabaloo, its been a while since i have seen an update on the expansion. where does the exterior brick facade stand and how much progress will be made before things start getting shut down and trimmed up for preparation of the season?

the junction cam shows significant progress.

I know Scott has said they don't expect to lose seats, but are they really going to open up a partially completed structure to paying spectators to sit?

Saw a picture from Bo Hemphill on twitter yesterday of the west side. One section of brick is done and just like I thought, it's not going to have much visual impact because it doesn't go high enough up the facade.

The lower level should be substantially complete by September. And I'm sure they will partially or totally suspend work on the upper level until the season is over.

I think the height is ok... It's that it doesn't completely line up with the columns, so it looks... Aftermarket.

What hinted you on the aftermarket part? The brick not lining up or the fact that the stadium looks 200 years old and pieced together with brand new brick attached on the bottom 1/3?

I think it looks fine. I think it will look a whole lot better when the elevator on the south end is entirely finished with brick and the north side lobby is built in. There is going to be a TON of brick on the stadium. I for one like the look of the original structure, so I'm glad they're keeping most of it visible.

I figured a good portion would be complete but when I rode by last week, only about 2/3 of the first floor had even been poured. It's coming together, but are they going to allow fans to use seating in the middle of an active construction site on a halfway completed structure? Who would be liable if something happened?

I just think this is much different than the video board where we can use it when it's not complete because no fans were around it.

The season is still 2 months away. Construction companies can get a lot done in 2 months when there's a substantial milestone bonus/penalty in the contract.

It is amazing how much work has completed in the past month.

They are certainly taking advantage of the dryer weather. I fully expect people to be amazed at how different our stadium is compared to last year when fans arrive on campus.

I wouldn't think anyone would be allowed on the structure prior to substantial completion ( finished, inspected, punched, & turned over to the owner) .... probably not a MSU call but left up to the GC and he won't allow it I'm pretty sure

The lower bowl section of seating will be complete and will have fencing between it and active construction. Students and Band will sit in the lower completed portion of the endzone this season.

You're right. That latest facade is a little underwhelming.

Also odd that hailstate.com has outdated imagery floating around.

i think that they are trying to do the most with what we have....the stadium will largely be "bookended" with brick with the middle just tying it together. they are maximizing the visual impact of the brick by being in areas where most fans enter and exit the stadium. i would have liked a little more brick as well, but its going to look like a totally different stadium.
