...we tried to get two other qb's and he was our 3rd option. We didn't take him over Brunetti or Newton. And on top of that, we've wasted a few scholarships over the past few years. If Favre's one more, it won't hurt that bad.

I don't see it as a waste of scholarship. This guy will be good for the team.
