I happen to be eating at the same place as Dylan tonight in the kiln. I work in the kiln by the way and we talked about miss state and the whole recruiting process. He is very proud to be coming to MSU and I think that speaks a lot in itself. He says he will be the future of MSU and take that how you may. He is between 5 foot10 and 5 foot 11 unless I grew a few inches in the last 9 years. He did not go to the pony on his official visit and is very aware of current competition for QB spot at state.

He was a very well mannered young man considering all the people around were getting hammered including me. I for one, based on film and. Meeting him first hand, think we made a good move signing him.

ge also said 17 the six pack he will prove them wrong.

I've been assured by many posters on this board that he's no more than 5'8" tops. I hope he does prove most posters on SPS wrong.

I know your being sarcastic but I actually made him stand up next to me so I could see for myself and we are basically the same height. Now my wife is going to the doc today so ill make a nurse measure me and ill let you know how tall we are. Some other guy was there and said that a certain offensive lineman said that Tyler russell was not gonna cut it..... Take that how you may but I'm ready for spring game before I make a judgment

No dude you got it wrong, we were all talking about it and stuff. Its not like i just walked up to a stranger and asked him to stand up so I can see how tall he was. The point is that he is 5'10" to 5'11". he is not 6 foot but he is not 5'8" either.

5'-6" Spud Webb once won the NBA slam dunk contest ..... when will you retards learn that there is more to a quarterback than just his hieght ...... the kid has confidence, pretty good stats, and WANTS to come and play for state .... I'll take that over Cam Newton

Its very shallow to judge someone who has not played YET based on someone else who has already played just because of their height.

Would you sign a 6'6" QB and expect him to be Ryan mallett just because they are both real tall. He could still suck even being tall so therefore Dylan can still be good even though he is small.

I grew two inches after my senior year, so you never know. I was 17 at the time. How old is Farve?

over the crossbar after scoring a TD. Hey, Brees showed he can do it. And I know, I'm sure its a celebration penalty in college.

I don't think it's shallow to judge someone on his height when you are judging
him only on his chances at being an SEC quality football player. Have you ever judged an offensive linemen recruit who was short and on the lighter side? People freak out about 6'0'' 260 lb lineman recruits all the time. Why is it not okay to question the size of a QB? I'm not saying he can't be successful being short, but height is a very desirable measurable in a QB. There is no denying it.

It's not like people are saying he's a bad person. They are just saying they wish he was taller and feel his lack of height is going to hold him back in our league. The best athletes are generally bigger, stronger, and faster regardless of intangible factors. There's no reason not to question his physical attributes. After all, shorter QB's are the exception.

He's as open to the same criticisms as any other athlete - just so long it is directed only at factual and measurable things. Nobody is going to call out his work ethic or whether or not he has the "it factor" until they see him on the field. But until then, short is short.

We have had tall QB's that sucked and we have had short QB's that sucked. I would like a tall QB but if a short one can do a better job then the tall one, I say go for the better QB. The bottom line is this, I just want a good QB and I don't care if he is 4'0" tall or 7'0" tall as long as we win.

We play in a league where the minimum height of an OL is 6'3. Most are 6'5 or more. Look at the OLs we just got through signing. Not a one of them are under 6'4. Why is it so wrong to say a QB that's less than 6' is going to have problems with such a mammoth OL in front of him? He might be the next Drew Brees (who is 6' flat and not less), but what are the odds of that? The last SEC QB under 6' I remember being worth a damn was Chris Leak. Before him, I probably couldn't name the last one. The bottom line is in this league, measurables matter. And a QBs who are less than 6' tend to struggle in the SEC.

At least not in that post. And if you actually would read my posts I have mentioned SEVERAL times that I am much more worried about his arm strength, mechanics, and footwork. Heck, one of the highlight videos that someone showed me had him completing only a little more than 50% of his passes against 4A competition.

I asked what does Spud Webb dunking a basketball have to do with it? I liked the responses about it could have helped against LSU, for those that did, by the way.

But to answer your question, no I wouldn't sign a QB just because he is 6'6". The first thing I want to know about a QB is how accurate he is. Second thing I want to know is what kind of vision and instincts does he have? Does he throw the ball up for grabs? Force the ball a lot? Does he play within himself? What kind of a leader is he? Is he intelligent? Lastly, I want to know about physical skills- arm strength, height- six foot minimum, and I don't consider Drew Brees to be undersized at all, speed- is he a dual threat QB or a drop back passer, and then finally stuff like mechanics and footwork.

And I'm not shallow. I'm honest.

Favre: I'm really excited to be playing for MSU, I'm going to do my best to try and help the team out next year and lead the team to some victories! I'm glad MSU gave me a chance when everyone else just judged me based on my height.

You: Thats cool, so speaking of height, this probably get's on your nerves and pisses you off when people think you may not be good because of your height, but how about you humor me by standing next to me so I can judge your potential on your height. That sound like somethin you'd wanna do little fella? By the way can you dunk a bask... nevermind just come stand next to me.

Sorry Todd, I was not meaning you in particular are shallow just people in general that are freaking out about how tall he is. I agree with your explanation but I say let's just let him prove himself and yes it will be harder for him.
I also like your assesment of our baseball team, I do not follow it much and never appreciated baseball until I went to state and started going to the games. Its ok to question his height but he is part of the bulldog family now. Oh and another note he said "17 ole miss".
