As an aside, I remember when Chris Moore showed up at Althoff my senior year. Coach Schott met with him and his parents. Don’t know how that conversation went but Chris stayed at ESL.
Remember the recent class of 10 D1 athletes at Althoff - hoops title and loser to non-multiplied Phillips in the football title game? Hoopster Tilmoln, who went to an Indiana prep school, reportedly showed up at Althoff to speak with Lieb .... he too played at ESL after that meeting.
The point being, Althoff, a multiplied-enrollment school, turned away top national talent. Not sure why - was not privy to details.
But that did not take the yolk of multiplication off Althoff. Something seems wrong with that.

Yeah, open door policy and folks leave us all of the time. My 0-3 crusaders lost two starters from last year to free schools. (
But alas, our lack of success removed the yolk this year ... too bad my boys won’t make the playoffs unless they run the board in the conference as they close out with Ritter.)
There's a guy on Belleville west coaching staff that tells everyone he hates ESL and Sunkett ever year. And then they made him head coach. My point.. why would kids with roots in ESL want to play there. "You dogging them you dogging me" I've heard this from the players. Does cover have an answer for this

Completely true. In the 1960s, it was White Flight to all of the surrounding communities.
By mid 1990s, it was Everyone Get the Hell Out of Dodge!
Plus, the draw of Althoff with Schott at the helm was an allure for any running back to stay home.

If true, that's very unfortunate to say the least. These coaches and adults in general that do these kinds of things need to learn to take the high road and be careful with what they say to these kids. In high school, I had a White civics teacher that was from E. St. Louis and he had plenty of bad things to say about the city. Myself and the few other African American students who had ties to ESL tended to feel uncomfortable in that class.
Cover is a victim of having totally bias conversations at cutters bar or the little devils field etc for too long and not hear other views. Never asking why. Just blaming and anger
Wish I had made my account for this thread. See all the ESL guys talking about how NV was going to make some noise in the playoffs when they needed NV to be good to help ESL's reputation.
