CLEVELAND (AP) — Eagles keyboardist and guitarist Joe Walsh says he's pulling out of a Cleveland summer concert he thought would be a nonpartisan event for veterans' families because it's actually a launch for the Republican National Convention.

Walsh says in an emailed statement he's "very concerned about the rampant vitriol, fear-mongering and bullying coming from the current Republican campaigns." He says he "cannot in good conscience endorse the Republican party in any way."

The concert is scheduled for July 18. The Republican National Convention is scheduled for July 18-21 at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.

Walsh said Wednesday he's sorry for any fans or veterans and their families he might disappoint. He promises to look at doing a veterans-related benefit concert later this year.

A convention spokeswoman hasn't returned an email seeking comment.

I thought he was more political than this, given his run for vice president and all.

They should sue him....he can't not perform because of their beliefs.

Is the artist not performing for a group based on their race, color, creed, ethnicity, handicap, age, marital status, gender, sexual preference or religious beliefs?

So you are saying its OK to discriminate based on political beliefs?

The idiot is in the house.......even though I did not ask you the question maybe you can answer it.

Waiting...I understand it may be way above you pay grade, but it is a very simple question and I certainly would expect even a moron like you should be able to answer.

Absolutely. I don't patronize Schlotzky's in Huntington because the owner is an extreme, hard line, right winger and doesn't hesitate to let everyone know on social media - even going to the point of letting everyone know that if they don't agree with his political and religious beliefs, they're an idiot.

Nice try....but that answer had nothing to do with the question since you as a customer are allowed to make a choice. You were not providing a service......or were you.

He doesn't want to perform for a group that holds beliefs (in his opinion) that differ from his.

I am certainly glad you grasp the difference between being a customer and providing a good or service. To answer your question, if I provided a good or service, I wouldn't discriminate based on political views. I would go to great lengths to avoid the possibility of offending anyone and potentially harming my business. If I were a performing artist, I probably wouldn't perform in cities that have passed laws that allow some form of discrimination. There is a big difference between having a shop/store/local business set up in a town where your provide some type of good or service and being a traveling artist/performer that involves traveling to temporarily provide that entertainment. The difference in the Schlotzky's example and the Joe Walsh example is the Schlotzky's owner has said "piss on customers that don't agree with me, I don't want their business" and Joe Walsh is saying "I'll provide my entertainment to anyone who wants to purchase to see it, I just don't want my show to have any association with the political convention".

In the end Joe Walsh is not going to provide his product and any lawyer with an IQ of 60 or higher would twist him into a pretzel with the last part of his quote. He is in the clear If Ohio has no laws based on this type of issue and the unwillingness of the RNC to pursue it further.

So, Joe Walsh knows the beliefs of all the tens of thousands of his audience? Maybe I'll ask him to pick some lottery numbers for me.

I have zero problems to whom Joe Walsh decides sells his products if it is not based on race....... good for him. Those types of decisions are made thousands of times a day. I just have an issue with hypocrisy.

He apparently does not agree with the beliefs of his potential customer and that is why he is choosing not to do business with them.

And you realize Cleveland is a pretty liberal town? And you also realize he is considering coming back at a different time?
