Considering he been in the league as one of the top corners in the game for over a decade, has 6 pro-bowls and a Ring. He good to do whatever he choses.

I figure he will go someplace to do these two things... Get one more big pay day and play for a contender. If he only wants to get paid, he can get more but make no mistake, he will have choices. Hell, he might retire, he is 34. That is pretty old for any NFL player not playing long snapper, QB, Kicker or Punter.

Technically, he can.
Hopefully DOGE corrects these millionaires taking money meant for regular folks**

I was curious how it worked for people who had been on a contract and then the contract ends. Also, he’s eligible for a pension, does that exclude him from unemployment? Yes, just curiosity, not trying to argue government policy.

In my "I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night" opinion, under the Federal Unemployment Tax Act, the answer to your question would appear to be no. Because 90% or more of Slay's income came from sports, and he's free to negotiate with other teams, he would be ineligible for unemployment compensation.

I would be interested how practice squad players would be affected by this as some may meet the qualifications to file unemployment.

He’s 34 so his time is about up. Detroit would be a good place to finish out his career.
