several of their units scored in the 4's and I don't think they had any in the 6's or higher. Conversely MSU didn't have anything lower than a 6.5

Take that for whateverit's worth....but I think the program is in shambles even by CUSA standards.

They've been a pain in our *** for years. I can see this game being MState winning 14-13, with the Tigers missing a chip-shot field goal at the end of the game.

with only 11 starters returning...if we struggle to beat them, its going to be a long season for us

It opened at 22. Some of the offshore books have moved the number down to 21 and 20.5. Memphis is going to be bad this year.
We beat them 31-10 1996 and 30-10 in 2001 one. The line was 18.5. Memphis is coming into this season having lost their last 6 games last year and not supposed to have anything this year. We have a shot at covering this, but wouldn't touch it unless under 21.......it would be a shut out or 35-13 game.

2 questions

1. When was the last time we were favored by 22 or more points?
2. When was the last time we covered a spread of 22 or more points?

Remember, they normally don't publish a point spread for games like JSU, Alcorn State, Jacksonville State, etc.</p>

This is no slap at the Jackie but our offense is not about ball control and good defense. I think the line is high but who knows. I bet it will come down soon. I would think that -14 would be about right.

and it's going to be real bad. I don't care how good a coach you can be, your first year is always gonna suck.

like I said, it's a new day, and I don't give a rats *** about what happened 8, or 9 years ago.
We have no players, now, that were on the team then, nor any coaches (except for possibly the Felker influence)...
I still think this is a new day, and we will whip the Tiger's' ***., ...biggest problem related to that, is that it's the first game of the year, and Memphis will try to put up a fight.
I think we have something going on (finally) and Dan can and will blow outan inferior team .

Except he took a knee against OM.

Don't step on my 17'n wool!

they pulled my drunk *** outta the stands in the 3rd and put me in on D. That said, i only allowed 2 td's. My buddy came in for me in the 4th and was just as good.

There is absolutely no comparison between this MSU team and any team we've had in the past decade. I don't know if we'll cover or not (my guess is we will), but we won't be embarrassed like that.

Maine game. I don't think there's a chance in hell that Mullen will allow that to happen, but there's always fleas in our MState wool.

That was day Matt Jones' name was known. He was FR and ran for close to 200yards on us or something. Maybe it was only 150 or so but I know it was alot. He had like an 80 yarder. <div>
</div><div>ETA: I was wrong. The game I was thinking of was in 2001 when Jones was a FR and it was 131 yards. ARK beat us 52-6 in 2004 I believe.</div>

I would take State if I was a betting man. Memphis will be fired up to play, but Mullen and our teams knows how close we were last year to going to a bowl and they know they gotta take care of business. 45-10 State.

because we have Auburn 5 days later...We will hold a few things back in the playbook and get through the game with about a 14-17 point win

The defense/offene will be what is needed but not too revealing I would suspect.

Auburn game I hope everyone including us will be surprised.

after we get up and he throws all kinds of sets, packages, personnel, waterboys, trainers, and a few sobers from student section for Auburn to have to prepare for on a short week... Don't see Dawgs winning by a ton, Memphis will be hyped up and we can't overlook them. Carmon will have a field day. Memphis always plays the MS schools hard. Should have beaten the Nuttwagon last year.

Think we hold real playbook back, but throw some ridiculous sets out so the War Eagles and Scam Newton have not a clue about the buzz-saw they will run into in front of the greatest country in the world, the U S and A....

Coach Mullen ain't Croom. Croom would put in the 3rd stringers when we were up 21(very seldom this actually happened-SELA) in the mid of the 3rd Q and just take the win. He didn't care about style points or anything. Mullen cares about style points. He's gonna want to beat the ever living **** out of them to get our guys and fans even more fired up about the Auburn game. I know we won't bring out the whole play book. We will just do the read option when the game is in hand and just plow through Memphis like Powe at a Golden Corral buffet on a Sunday afternoon.

I don't think we cover. Memphis opened with OM for years and beat the spread considerably every time. Plus we are not going to want to open the game up and show Auburn everything.
