Although the "sunbelt system" you speak of won't be the reason it won't be close, you are right that it won't be close.
A couple of reasons:
1. ZERO rushing game. None. Nada. Zip. O-Line is a bunch of soft fatasses. They can protect Bo sometimes, but when it comes to opening up running lanes, NOPE. Bama will be able to slow the run down with 5-6 guys and use everyone else to cover Treadwell and Sanders. Just like last year, OM will have to string together long, sustained drives to have a chance... and their offense is not built that way. The stats tell the story here... 1300 yards in the air so far this season... less than 500 on the ground. Not a single rusher has 200 yards ON THE SEASON. Advantage Bama.
2. Defense is good... not great, but good. Not sold on OM's front 7 (technically 6 in their scheme...). OM blitzes DBs A LOT... and when you have slow developing misdirection plays and read options, that's fantastic. Bama's ground and pound run game? You better have a front 6/7 that can hold their own because no safety is going to be able to take Henry and their fullback blowing their *** up all game. OM is fast... may have the edge in this department. HOWEVER, if the offense can't get ahead... and by ahead, I mean up 3 or 4 scores by half-time, that speed advantage will only last so long. The physical edge goes to Bama in the second half.
3. Bo is the same ol' Bo. He can tout the fact he went to this QB camp this summer all he wants, but he's still soft and very unpredictable. He can make some brilliant plays, but he can make some "what the 17" plays. A little mind 17ing with coverages, and he's done. I will say his arm is stronger than last year, but an underthrown post pattern led to a pick last night... against Memphis.
4. OM is fired up as **** for the first 6-7 minutes. Every game, they seem to start out 7-0 because of some offensive/defensive fireworks early on. This is the only time I give them the edge. You can't stay that fired up throughout the entire game (and OM has yet to be able to do this in any game under Hugh Freeze) and Bama has played this song too many times. Once the first quarter ends, it's down to business... and I have not seen a game yet this year where can I say that OM's "down to business" game is any better than anyone else's in the SEC... especially Bama's. OM only thrives on fireworks and emotional hype. Once that's gone, they better be well ahead because the second half is gonna be an all-out grind.
42-7 Bama.
