Well I never bet because I don't know Richard.

But I have this feeling Freeze will have them ready to,play to home. Gonna be close. If it was 10 I'd definitely takes the rebels. Six makes you stop and breathe.

Ready or not, OM's defensive success has been a smoke screen so far. They've yet to convince me they can get pressure with their front 7. Couple that with a severe lack of a run game (and Bama with a very balanced rushing attack and amauri cooper), I'd be all over that line. Expect this year to be much like last year for OM.

Tsun looked great against Memphis but memphis didn't even attempt a long pass. The safeties were within 10-15 yards of Los. I kept yelling for a skinny post or something. Memphis coach didn't game plan worth a crap. They had like 19 yards on 30 carries and kept trying to run it. Bama will throw it with cooper, then safeties back off and counter with Henry and yeldon. I'm gonna take that bet. Bama will win by 17

I posted earlier that OM's top
3 tackling leaders are defensive backs. That means they are having to blitz safeties and corners to get pressure... Coupled with the fact they are struggling to get pressure with their front 7. Against a team like Memphis that runs a lot of read option and misdirection (an no passing attack to have to respect), that works great. Bama will have a balanced downhill rushing attack and a potent passing attack... You aren't going to beat a team like without a front 7 that can hold their own... And I'm not convinced they have that.

Guys, the Bears will play Bama close. Bad Bo usually follows up with a Good Bo performance. That guy is hell on Vegas oddsmakers. It will come down to a turnover...whoever makes it at the wrong time loses. I think it'll be a one score margin. Here's hoping Bo has a pick six late in the 4th.

There's only one Bo and he's a crap QB. Sometimes that's hidden because their sunbelt system is about getting the ball in the hands of real playmakers who ULL can't handle, but he's still a crap QB. This game won't be close. OM will do well to keep it closer than last year.

Wait, getting the ball into your play maker's hand is a sun belt strategy?

Why has nobody else thought about that strategy yet?***

Although the "sunbelt system" you speak of won't be the reason it won't be close, you are right that it won't be close.

A couple of reasons:
1. ZERO rushing game. None. Nada. Zip. O-Line is a bunch of soft fatasses. They can protect Bo sometimes, but when it comes to opening up running lanes, NOPE. Bama will be able to slow the run down with 5-6 guys and use everyone else to cover Treadwell and Sanders. Just like last year, OM will have to string together long, sustained drives to have a chance... and their offense is not built that way. The stats tell the story here... 1300 yards in the air so far this season... less than 500 on the ground. Not a single rusher has 200 yards ON THE SEASON. Advantage Bama.

2. Defense is good... not great, but good. Not sold on OM's front 7 (technically 6 in their scheme...). OM blitzes DBs A LOT... and when you have slow developing misdirection plays and read options, that's fantastic. Bama's ground and pound run game? You better have a front 6/7 that can hold their own because no safety is going to be able to take Henry and their fullback blowing their *** up all game. OM is fast... may have the edge in this department. HOWEVER, if the offense can't get ahead... and by ahead, I mean up 3 or 4 scores by half-time, that speed advantage will only last so long. The physical edge goes to Bama in the second half.

3. Bo is the same ol' Bo. He can tout the fact he went to this QB camp this summer all he wants, but he's still soft and very unpredictable. He can make some brilliant plays, but he can make some "what the 17" plays. A little mind 17ing with coverages, and he's done. I will say his arm is stronger than last year, but an underthrown post pattern led to a pick last night... against Memphis.

4. OM is fired up as **** for the first 6-7 minutes. Every game, they seem to start out 7-0 because of some offensive/defensive fireworks early on. This is the only time I give them the edge. You can't stay that fired up throughout the entire game (and OM has yet to be able to do this in any game under Hugh Freeze) and Bama has played this song too many times. Once the first quarter ends, it's down to business... and I have not seen a game yet this year where can I say that OM's "down to business" game is any better than anyone else's in the SEC... especially Bama's. OM only thrives on fireworks and emotional hype. Once that's gone, they better be well ahead because the second half is gonna be an all-out grind.

42-7 Bama.

Bob Stoops agrees

We will certainly see how good the Confederate D is. I am hoping they get exposed, but doubting that they will.

If anyone can expose them, Bama will. They have plenty of speed and they scheme well to take advantage of that, but unless you can physically match Bama up front, it's hard to stop their rushing attack. Not only that, but amauri cooper should do a better job of occupying OM's DBs than Memphis was able to do.

The way they do it, yeah. Absolutely. Their system gets the ball in their playmakers hands in open space.... against sunbelt defenses. And they run for days. The defense has to overcompensate for it allowing OM to then stretch the field, but it's all predicated on the success of the short passes. SEC defenses blow that up. Against SEC defenses it's not open space and if it is it's closed quickly. They're tackled for a 2 yard gain if Wallace can hit them in the first place.

Look it's not much different than what Sumlin does and obviously that's worked for him and others. Maybe Freeze can be effective with a better QB but so far all he's proven is that it exploits bad defenses.

If you can't distinguish regular season from bowl season, then I just can't help you.

Couldn't agree more. I think OM will be exposed big time on both sides of the ball. They are average at best. Their offense struggled to move the ball against MEMPHIS for God sakes, Bama will shut them down and force Bo into 3-4 interceptions. Yeldon/Henry/Cooper will eat them alive. I'm thinking a 14-17 pt win for Bama.

Guess Saban needed three weeks

And it was a one score victory. Hope you saved some betting cash :)
