East Surry at Mount Airy

It’s gonna be a barn burner buzz , standing room only! Cards are legit contenders for the west this year just like the Bears. I don’t see it being one sided but see a good one. Bears gonna have to keep Gosnell in check, cards are a little more balanced than some would think with Mosley and smith at the sides. Edwards is a bruising full back similar to the kid from north Surry . Cards have to find a way to stop the Greene brothers and smith out of the backfield, new coaching staffs make it even better. Lines play wins this one for who ever , gonna be interesting to see how Poindexter handles the pressure of the big game and the pressure from the defensive front. On the other side cards can’t hurt the bears from the air but can with Gosnell running all over the place. Gonna be fun. What’s your take buzz
Will be best team the Bears have faced this year. Bears have so many weapons. Even #1 is a speedy wr who has caught passes and took to house. U will have to score 40 plus to beat MA. Much respect to ES. MA

Might as well throw the records out the window when these 2 match up, ES keeps it close for a while, but to much offense for MA in the end, Bears by 21
West stokes was the best team Mt Airy has played. They beat the Greyhounds pretty bad last night
Seen west twice and do not agree. They never drove ball either game had to throw bombs to score. MA game they we're 3rd and long alot same at East and threw long pass play to get out of it. ES has gotten better and to hey always play us good.

You mean the way the superintendent and school board treated him? Do not get those confused with the East Surry Administrators, and make sure you know facts before you speak. Ignorance is not a good look for anyone.
Eden Morehead “defensively” has been best team Bears have faced...and I say this due to speed in secondary....Bears had tough time with them....
How can East Surry be the best team you played, when they lost to West Stokes and you played both?
Be civil all you want and thats great..but fact is they get up to play yall..that doesn't make them the best team youve played.
This years cardinal team to me is by far the best team the bears have faced. West and East are two rivals just like the Bears and Hounds, anything can happen. West is pretty solid but East Surry beats them 8 outta 10 times . I’m a Bear die hard but this is a whole lotta football game come Friday night. I’m sold on the cards being a top 5 1a football team this year, won’t surprise me if these two play again deep in the play offs. I’ve seen all the great 1a football teams in the west this year and I ain’t seen one that will look forward to coming to pilot mtn or see the cards pull up in there parking lot. Gosnell is for real, Boaz is a 6-7 tight end, Mitchell Edwards is good for 5 gritty yards all night long. I’m telling yhea this is gonna be a hell of a football game. Bears are loaded with weapons but the cards have a few as well, they are jr laden and will be a heavy favorite to win the west next year. Now print I know what yhea gonna say —- ummm don’t matter cause ain’t nobody beating tarboro ,,, ummm tarboro , lmbo . Tarboro this , tarboro that ,, lmbo , waitng on yhea little man , daddy’s waiting.
8 out of 10...yeah right...i'll let you tell it...The same East Surry team that struggled with N.Surry..and the West Stokes team that just pulverized N.Surry tells me different. You shouldn't be waiting on me...i havent chimed in about Tarboro that much..dummy...this is about East Surry...and if it wasn't a rivalry game between you guys..then it really wouldn't be a game at all..just my take..But Yeah since you mentioned neither of you guys have a chance against Tarboro..dont. kid ya self...now throw your weak jab at EW..and our argument will be complete or an anti climatic one...LOL!!!

I think you can argue that East is every bit as talented as West. They had more offense in the game than West. Most of WS offense came on 2 chunk plays and a kickoff return. The big difference in the game were the ES self inflicted wounds via turnovers. You can’t have that many turnovers and expect to beat anyone. None of that is meant to discredit the West Stokes win...they deserve complete credit for beating ES that night. That doesn’t mean they would consistently beat ES if they played multiple times. ES beat WS in 2017 but I think you can legitimately argue WS was every bit as good as ES last year. The MA/ES game should be a good one. I think MA is the more talented team overall, but I think the game will be close and could go either way.
Its always the fact that teams cant accept certain things and it all turns into hypotheticals and bs...Ask any West Stokes fan and they will tell you that they jumped all over East Surry and were very opportunistic when the chance presented itself. West Stokes and East Surry are having great seasons. The better team won the night that they played each other. Really that's all that matters. Mt.Airy has played West Stokes. They have not played East Surry. In no shape form or fashion can they really say that East Surry is the best team they will play. I mean you can, but it isn't warranted at all.
Independence won almost a hundred straight throwing 10 hell Mary's a game. When you have the receivers they have (esp number 13) why not. He has 9 picks this year on defense.
I personally don’t think enough can be said about
Mount Airy’s new offensive coordinator, Shane Compton.
The way he uses the no huddle spread offense is like no other. He reads the defense very well.
The late play calls gives him just enough edge to read the defense. And that edge has payed off.
Coach Compton and Poindexter seem to be clicking at the right time.
Poindexter has done an awesome job at QB.
He has not only broke the single game passing record at Mount Airy. He has surpassed the season record with over 2,600 yds thus far. Plus he has only played 10 quarters of the last five games.
I realize a lot of people will say he has a lot of weapons on offense. And that maybe true, but he still has to find them.
I’ve watched a lot of high school quarterbacks and most of them stick to the scrip, and throw it to the “A” man.
Poindexter seems to scan down field and throw it to the “open” receiver. The next two years look very bright for this young man.
I believe these two will keep Cardinals spread out like a flock of geese.
Then comes #6 Jonathan Smith.

That is 100,% the truth, best football coach I have ever been around, excellent play caller, WC hasn't been the same since he left, I still scratch my head as to how they let him get away!
I will say the one of the smartest things JK did was find a place for Coach Compton at MA
If I recall right Compton resigned at Central because his wife got a new job. I don't think there is anything Central could have done to keep him around.
When you have good people in place you have to do what you can to keep them, either way he's an excellent football coach!
