Reidsville, No. 1 seed in East 4A (9-2), vs. Eastern Wayne No. 9 seed in East 4A (8-3)

Both teams posted huge shutout win in the second round to set up this first-ever meeting between the schools located 150 miles and 2.5 hours apart.

Reidsville had bye in the first round while Eastern Wayne got by Anson 21-14.

Eastern Wayne has a standout in Izeiah Oates, a 6-foot, 205-pound senior. He's passed for close to 2000 yards and run for just under 1000 yards. And he's the son of head coach Leander Oates.

Will be a solid test for the rams. Gotta cut down on penalties

Coach Erik Teague said he was going to look at the video and try to identify why there were so many flags in the Red Springs game. Quote from News & Record article: "We'll watch film and see exactly what the referees were seeing."

Eastern Wayne averaging 34.9 points per game ... Reidsville, pitching shutouts in four of last five games, allowing 13.9 per game. The average allowed in the last six games is 3.3 ... obviously the competition hasn't been as strong.

Rams' losses were to Northern Guilford and Reagan in the early going and both of those teams are rolling in the playoffs. Northern is 10-1 and rolling in 6-A while Reagan is 9-2 while advancing in 7-A.

In the Virginia playoff, Danville George Washington won its opener 44-7 over Blacksburg last week to move to 10-1 on the season - the only loss coming to Reidsville, 42-14 back on Aug. 29.

I hope we aren’t rotating qbs as much this game. I like Brax and broadway and both need reps I’m sure, but don’t like rotating every 2 series or so

Out of the 6 high schools in Wayne County, thankfully only two are compass point schools: Southern Wayne, located in Dudley, NC, and Eastern Wayne, located in Goldsboro, only 6.5 miles from Goldsboro High.
The others are Goldsboro High, Rosewood in Goldsboro, Spring Creek in Seven Springs and Charles B. Aycock in Pikeville.

Season stats: Johnson 91 of 139 (66 percent) for 1,463 yards and 23 TDs with 6 interceptions; Broadway 26 of 39 (67 percent) for 376 yards and 7 TDs with 0 picks.
Dionte Neal has also put the ball in the air 48 times with 29 complete (60 percent) for 478 yards and 10 TDs with 0 picks. Ironic stat: he's thrown 48 passes and caught 48 passes.

Yeah, I'd only expect one back. Agree Mule, both are good. Broadway probably better right now due to age and experience and I could see why Broadway has a few offers.

Correction, CB Aycock is not in Goldsboro, it happens to be in Pikeville.

Warriors got off to a 10-0 lead thanks to a 97-yard pass play but Dionte Neal and the Rams battled back.
Neal as been sensational - Punt Return TD, 65 yards; running out of shotgun for 65 yards; receiving TD for 44 yards; and another rushing TD for approximately 10 yards .... he has also completed a key first down pass for 26 yards.

Oates of E Wayne has completed 10 of 25 passes for 135 yards but has suffered a pair of interceptions.
Michael Smith of Reidsville has 144 yards rushing on 8 carries.
