I heard Adam Schefter on ESPN this afternoon claim that when the idea of the Raiders first going to Oakland came up but appeared to not likely to happen, the city of Oakland proceeded to triple their rent for the stadium, and basically said, "You have no leverage." I'm not Davis fan, but if there is any truth to that, well the city of Oakland has no one to blame but themselves.

Time for MLB to break it to the Giants that they don't get to call all the shots all the time. The Bay Area can support two teams, but not when one of them has to play in that craphole.

I'm freaking stoooooked!!!!! The city of Oakland never had the backs of the Raiders, why should the team be stuck sharing a dump with the A's on a baseball baseball dirt infield? The new stadium looks amazing!!

Actually, the A's appear committed to staying in Oakland. That was the first thing I checked today--from the East Bay Tribune.

I've been to 2 A's games in the past few years in Oakland and I actually didn't mind the stadium. Of course I was sitting 3 rows up from 3rd base for a game when they honored the players from the 30 year anniversary of their world series championship and then in a private box the next year. Old stadium but man it was pretty when it was full.

It's nice to see that you all support corporate welfare. They still haven't paid off the old stadium. I believe it's something like 95 million they still owe on the renovations from 1995. Where's all the money supposed to come from? City of Oakland? Mark Davis held them hostage. These rich owners are taking and taking and they benefits to the community are not as much as the cost to build these facilities. Maybe Davis could have worked with Oakland in the first place to pay off the current stadium and then paid more of his fair share since he's the one to benefit the most.

If you can't afford to own a team, sell it. Don't screw over the whole fan base because you're too poor to build a stadium and too dumb to create a reasonable proposal for the city.

I love the Raiders and have been a fan since I was a child when my uncle Ottaviano was a big fan. Being mostly based in Nebraska, this move doesn't hurt or effect me as much as I thought it would. I feel bad for those fans in Oakland, yet I also am pissed at bandwagon fans of the Raiders. We suffered through that awful period after the Super Bowl against Tampa, so I'll be angry if people are now fans because they moved to LV.

I see a state losing yet another business because their leaving for greener pastures. I'm not that old, but I do remember when people and businesses wanted to move to California, not leave in droves.

Having been a fan of the Silver and Black since the old AFL days and watching what has happened in California the past few years - none of this surprises me. The state of California is a train wreck economically. They can't raise taxes and make new regulations fast enough. I am not sure how any business will survive there. That may or may not have a direct impact on the decision to move but there has certainly been enough time and opportunity to keep the Raiders in the state. Business is business, sports or otherwise.

Should be interesting. Will "true" Raider fan travel? Yes, there will be some transplant Raider fans that make the trips to Vegas, but I suspect the real fans in Oakland (those who built the reputation/brand) won't. The Raider mystique may hang on for a few years, but I think it will start to fade.

There's no "side" to root for on these stadium issues, at least not if you're a taxpayer working every day because you weren't born rich. Local politicians belly up to the gravy buffet to extort all they can. I read the Minneapolis paper regularly, and they've been reporting on the dirty local officials enjoying the perks of their new stadium. Then the billionaire owners claim they can't make ends meet and they "have" to move. As a fan of the Royals, I figure in my lifetime I'll probably have to go through losing my team to a better "market". Matter of time.
