Wouldn't say it's meaningless. If you have good players committed, then other good players could follow. As far as us actually getting him, I realize this doesn't guarantee it
I think its a good chance he sticks with us. He wants to play 2 sports and not many other places will give him that chance...plus coach ray has been recruiting him since he was at Clemson, so I think he's pretty tight with the coaching staff. Oh and he sees how thin we are at qb.
Now we need to get one more HS QB and one JUCO QB committed.
As for those saying that Rick Ray's cooperation helped seal this deal, that's silly. If he plays football, then he gets his scholarship from football. Rick Ray is getting a 4-star player here without having to give up a basketball scholarship. Not a very difficult proposition. I'm glad we have one QB lined up. Now let's go get two more.
It says "4 Star" recruit, but I think that's for basketball. The best I see him in football is 3 star with football offers from Appalachian State, Boston College, Marshall, U Mass and Virginia. The other SEC offer was Vandy, for basketball.
So we would walk into the 2014 season with Dak Prescott, Elijah Staley (a true freshman), and Damian Williams (who will likely redshirt and we know nothing about)? One decent QB and two freshmen (one redshirt likely)? That's not even fathomable in the SEC in the 21st century. We have to sign another JUCO QB and another HS QB. We have to. If we don't and Dak (a running QB) is injured next year, we're talking catastrophic possibilities to the 2014 season. Good SEC teams don't run that risk. What if Elijah opts to play basketball strictly like Cord did with baseball? WAY too much risk. One more HS QB and a JUCO guy, and I will be happy.
