Agree and disagree. Playing basketball will help him in football if he's playing WR or TE in football and near the basket in basketball. He's doing none of the above, though. He's listed as a guard.I know a couple of guys have done it successfully (Bruce Ellington), but I think it's almost impossible to play football and basketball and come anywhere near your potential in either sport. Staley needs to pick one and give it 100%.
I just think the guy wants to play something and i am ok with him playing basketball now as Dak is coming back. Hope he does go through bowl practice though.....he is our best QB prospect in my mind. Really big and very mobile. Cam Newton size and can really be a difference maker. He is going to have to learn the position and pay his dues....know young guys hate to hear that.....to lead this program though. But he can do it and be really successful.
Hope he switches to TE. He's the same size as Jimmy Graham.
Jimmy Graham's 6-7, 275 size = Elijah's 6-6, 235 size. Few football players can add 40 pounds of muscle quickly especially when they are practicing & playing college basketball. Ask Jarvis Varnado ... it's taken him 8 years to add 20 pounds.

Fitz will be going thru his second bowl practice. I think staley is putting himself a long way behind fitz. If staley has a nice year in hoops, I think he may stay with ray
My thoughts exactly. If he is a 6'6" SG, he may need to stick with bball anyway.
/I still hope to see the big athletic lefty at QB.

He's a small forward. Skillset pretty similar to Daniels and Houston...
Listed as a guard.
