I had a cool idea for an Eli Ellis highlights video using "Eli's Coming" by Three Dog Night.

"Eli's Coming" Eli Ellis video featuring Three Dog Night + Eli Ellis Highlights

My old USC roommate (a video editing wizard) did a fantastic job putting this together for ALL Gamecock fans! It has been in the works for a while, but we just didn't know what to use for a good ending. After he hit that amazing buzzer-beater to win his league championship, we knew that was the ending we were looking for all along.

The old farts on here will remember this song quite well. “Eli's Coming” by Three Dog Night was released on June 11, 1969. It spent fourteen weeks on the charts and peaked at #10 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Top 100 chart in October 1969. The song "Eli's Coming'" was originally written and released by Laura Nyro on her 1968 album "Eli and the Thirteenth Confession".

So, what do YOU think of it? Assuming you like it, please share it with your family, friends & neighbors!

Thanks for your feedback!

That’s awesome!! I thought of that as that song has been on my phone a long time - a classic. Hopefully Eli will be one too!

Most of those highlights came from a game when he scored 50+ points (55 I think, not sure).

He better be all that we hope he is and more. All of Paris' eggs are basically in the Eli basket at this point.

It's not Lamont's fault USC didn't allocate enough NIL money for us to get the top players he wants.

None of us like hearing another school outbid us!

Supposedly, we have a bigger NIL budget ready to stop our competition poaching our recruits.

Same old excuse to explain Gamecock failures, repackaged with NIL language. Our fans have always blamed our failure and explained away other teams' successes because they were buying players. Now we just complain that they're paying more.

Here's a short clip about Eli Ellis and all of his accomplishments. He's going to be a STUD!

Gamecock Eli Ellis

We were smart to offer & get him when we did!

His younger brother Issac should follow him too.

Eli has taken a LOT of crap online from people saying he doesn't belong in Division 1. Most are from guys who only saw a short video clip of his game winning shot. They say he can't dribble because of that clip? We need to support him.

Disagree. This NIL stuff is still pretty new for all. USC was not as prepared as some other schools.

Missouri went from SEC basement last year to a 6 seed in the Dance this year. How did they do it?

They got an anonymous $62 Million Donation in their Athletics Dept. So, more money for players!

Missouri gets $62M donation!

Didn’t we do the same thing as Missouri the year before though? And how? We brought in Mack, Cooper, Stute, etc… to completely turn around a bad team.

We just didn’t keep up or learn…but it’s not like we are brand new to this. We already benefitted from this and then just fell flat on our face.

He will definitely need help, but the other pieces won't matter if Eli doesn't live up to the hype.
I mean I definitely see what people like about his game and think he's a great addition to any class. I think there is a little too much hype over him because I don't see him as a player that will carry a team. A lot of the stuff he does on film I don't see him pulling off at the college level. He is a crafty player that creates shots, but there's a reason he's not a five star.

How did we get this guy, he looks unstoppable.
All top level recruits look unstoppable in HS where they are much more talented than everyone else on the court. The proof comes when they get to college and every player on the court on both teams was the best player on their HS team. One also has to consider that the highlight videos are exactly that "highlight" videos. The videos only show the best plays by the player.

Yep. With all the hype, this kid better be good. You have to wonder if his abilities will translate at the D1, SEC level of competition. Fingers crossed, but as a lifelong Gamecock fan, not holding my breath.

He has grit, courage, and the “it” factor leaders need. He is not an amazing athlete, but he will be an impact player. Just can’t do it without a solid band of brothers.

Hes probably gonna suck.. Oh well. Lets talk about other stuff.

He wont suck, he will probably be very good as a freshman, all freshman team.

But that now comes with a price so he will probably hit the portal after year his freshman year.

But it wont be to Clemson, LOL

What exactly is ‘the hype’ Eli has to live up to? Carry the team has been mentioned, a la Michael Jordan? Average 40 a game? Become a media darling? Seems the Eyores are pulling for him to flop so they can razz those excited to be getting a player of this notoriety. Sad. And childish.

I see him as a Jackie Gilloon kind of player; exciting and entertaining to watch, focused and intense, fill the middle in the break and know when to dish, etc. Super pumped to be getting him.

Now if we too can get a $62M donation like Missouri…

We can't expect him to put the whole team on his back as a Freshman! Putting too much hype and pressure on Cam Scott didn't help him at all. To go from him being the last player drafted in his league to 2X League MVP? I can't recall hearing anything like that about any player at any position!

How did we get this guy, he looks unstoppable.

He has a gazillion followers on social media! There were plenty of big schools interested in him, but Lamont was smart enough to pull the trigger when he did. You can bet there are some other coaches who now wish they had signed him. I think he'll be an exciting "Diaper Dandy" for us! :)

He played all season with Hayden Assemian, our incoming 6-8, 220-pound forward Frosh from Greenville, S.C. Playing with Eli surely helped him.

We've also offered his little brother Issac too. That's another reason why Eli is not going anywhere once he and his bro are playing together again.

Here's what Lamont has said about him. "...Make no mistake, Eli Ellis's game is founded in real basketball ability and feel. I think that's the ticket ultimately for him to be a high-level player. He's extremely confident; he has flare, has swagger and some of that is what makes him who he is," Paris said. "Some of those things, you probably can't get away with in a college game, but it's who he is. We'll help mold him into a guy who's going to be a really productive player for us. I love his competitiveness, I love his overall spirit and his feel and his skill are very high."

To some, he comes across as "Too Cocky", but he can back it up! That's why Carolina is the perfect school for him (& his little brother). Go Cocks!

You're right. We obviously had enough NIL money to put together that winning team. But, it looks like the prices for the best players went up and we thought we could do it again using the same amount of money. We pay our coaches too much. Let's give more to get the better players here!

My point in the previous post is that next year is a make or break year for Lamont. This year’s team was utterly devoid of any returning talent. Eli is the biggest fish coming in next year. Lamont needs him to be all that he’s been advertised to be or else he’ll be out of a job.

The biggest reason he's NOT a 5 Star is he's just not TALL enough at Only 6'1" tall. Compare that to the height of your average High School 5 Star.

Seems like almost everybody has been doubting him for years. Now is his chance to prove he belongs in D1! USC Mens Basketball has had 2 Top National Scoring Champions in Grady Wallace (1957) and Zam Frederick (played when I was at USC) was NCAA scoring champ in his Senior year.

I want Eli to be among the highest-scoring combo guards in the country! Hope he ticks off all his home state NC schools who passed on him. :)

I agree, Lamont has GOT to produce! But, you have to remember the previous team got to play games on a once-every-4-years trip. That helped a Lot!

Based on what I saw from Cam Scott this season, a guy that was supposed to be a solid contributor and impact player, I’m going to keep my expectations low on any freshman coming in and taking our team far on his own. Would be hard to say this kid is better than GG Jackson and we saw with him you have to have more than one good player.

These freshmen at Duke, Kansas, etc excel because they have solid piece around them already. I’m sure there are exceptions. Not sure Eli is good enough to carry this team unless we upgrade our talent across the board. He’d be a solid player on our team 2 years ago which could score down low and had decent guard play. But is he good enough when defenses key in on him knowing we got nothing else? Not many players can do that and see the win totals go up. Maybe they can have good numbers, but I’d rather get wins.

By the way, Three Dog Night will perform at the Township Auditorium on Friday April 4th. Cory Wells died a few years ago. Looks like Danny Hutton is the only original member still with the group. Apparently Chuck Negron has had a solo career. I saw them back in the day but don`t remember anything about it. One of the joys of having cell phones - wish they had been around them(well for some things).

Good points! We didn't have a shooter like him last season. He's probably used to teams that key on him though. His dad was his coach and made him into one heck of Combo G shooter. :)

He's still got a LOT to learn, but he seems like just what we need. Only time will tell I guess.

Saw them at Coastal Carolina Fair not all that long ago. Sure enough, they filled the facility and put on a great show. They had LOTS of Top 40 Hits!

I saw them three times in their heyday, late 60s/early 70s ish. The band was their regular studio band, super tight, guitar player was really good, and their vocals were perfect. One of my favorite bands back then, although it was uncool to let any one know at the time.

I've always heard they put on a great live show.

Looked it up & show I saw was in October 2016.

They're coming to Charleston at Charleston Music Hall on Saturday April 27th! Phone: 843-853-2252

Check out this statement to promote their show (expanded):

"Legendary band, THREE DOG NIGHT, now in its 5th decade, claims some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music. In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more top 10 hits, moved more records, or sold more concert tickets than THREE DOG NIGHT. THREE DOG NIGHT hits weave through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures — songs like “Mama Told Me (Not To Come)”, “Joy to the World”, “Black and White”, “Shambala” and “One” serve to heighten our emotions and crystallize THREE DOG NIGHT’s continuing popularity. Boasting chart and sales records that remain virtually unmatched in popular music, THREE DOG NIGHT had 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, including 3 #1 singles, 11 Top 10’s, 18 straight Top 20’s, 7 million-selling singles and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LPs. The hits appeared on best selling charts in all genres (pop, rock and country). Its records continue to sell around the world, reaching beyond the borders of the U.S. into Japan, Canada, Holland, England, Germany, Spain and elsewhere. Tens of millions of THREE DOG NIGHT records have been sold through the years. Created in 1968 by Danny Hutton, THREE DOG NIGHT maintains an aggressive, year- round touring schedule of over 90 dates a year, performing their hit filled concerts for multi-generational audiences. The band’s now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a “three dog night”. The band recorded songs of the best and largely undiscovered new songwriters of its time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group’s eclectic taste, combined with its ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive, and appealing style, resulted in THREE DOG NIGHT dominating the charts for years. The band’s music transcends time, bringing together both new and longtime audiences alike. THREE DOG NIGHT demonstrates its eclectic song choices once again with the new material being recorded for an upcoming album release. One of the new tracks, “Prayer of the Children” was discovered by Hutton who created an a cappella arrangement, so Three Dog Night Page 1 that for the first time in the history of THREE DOG NIGHT, the vocals of all six members of the band are featured. The song is currently part of their live concert set and quickly becoming an audience favorite Marking over 50 years on the road, THREE DOG NIGHT continues to grow its fan base by keeping up a full schedule of concerts at theatres, performing arts centers, fairs, festivals, corporate events, and casinos. Since 1986, the band has performed nearly 3,000 shows including two Super Bowls. THREE DOG NIGHT’s 21 Top 40 Hits: Mama Told Me (Not To Come) #1 Joy to The World #1 Black And White #1 Shambala #3 Easy To Be Hard #4 An Old Fashioned Love Song #4 The Show Must Go On #4 One #5 Never Been To Spain #5 Liar #7 Eli’s Coming #10 The Family Of Man #12 Celebrate #15 Out In The Country #15 Sure As I’m Sittin’ Here #16 Let Me Serenade You #17 One Man Band #19 Pieces Of April #19 Try A Little Tenderness #29 Til The World Ends #32 Play Something Sweet (Brickyard Blues) #33"

Well the first set of visitors doesn’t look like anything is changing.

Have to disagree with that now... We just got a Top 40 7 foot Big Man who weighs close to 300 lbs. And looks like we outbid some big schools for a tall 6'6" Top 10 high-scoring transfer Senior shooting guard. I like both of these guys a LOT!

So far, so good with our transfer class!

Christ Essandoko has worse stats than Pringle. Hes more turnover prone than Bosmans-Vernon. This isn’t a recruit that should have you excited. It should be worrisome.
