If you are unaware, Elizabeth is a member of our women’s basketball team. She has left the team with permission and encouragement to play for the women’s Nigerian national team. She’ll return to UofL in the next few days. Results on the court aside while she’s been away, would the narrative be the same if a men’s player did that? I imagine there would be a double standard.

She probably secured an agreement before she transferred to UofL.

Other scenario is she was counting on sitting out during her transfer year but was granted immediate eligibility.

And yes, I wouldnt like it if one of the Mens player did this. Ironically, Jordan will play for Nigeria this Summer. I also believe hus Father is the HC or a coach on the team.

Coach Walz gave it his blessing. It was an opportunity for the next Lady to step up. They crapped the bed today losing to 11-11 Syracuse.
They get a chance to regain 1st place from 1st place NC State on Thursday.

imho, since it's the middle of the season, should actually make her better and thus the team better so all good. if tourney time you're asking a different question. but men's or women's if nwora left now for two weeks and was back for acc tourney none of us would care, or we shoudln't care. we'd all be fine if an american player in europe came home to play for our country and miseed their games but as most americans see it, we get to do everything we want while others should be chastised for the same actions. real sadness is anyone wold be fine with women doing it but not men, that's the definition of chauvanism i think.. btw, regular season means nothing as long you you win 20 games and make tourney so let them go get better international experience than any college game can provide

I really don’t have an issue with any player looking out for his/her personal and financial interests...as long as they’re team-first when they put on a U of L uniform.

And as mentioned, EB probably had that agreement from Walz when she transferred here...

Obviously we need her back sooner rather than later. I, too, have no issues with her involvement with the Nigerian team.

I think it's great that she was able to participate, and I'm happy our coaches and University allowed it. At the end of the day, college is supposed to help people grow, and I'm sure that experience helped her grow as a player and a person.
