Going to be interesting to see who the pool of candidates are for the job. Not an easy job by any means. I have heard the 5th/6th grade level has some talent in it. If true then if a coach can make it through a couple lean years to start he might get something but who knows with so many unknowns now a days.

Who got the AD Job and give us some hints on some of the folks interested in this job (EyeInTheSky)?
The way I understood it Mr.Wilmoth was going to be the new AD. I’m hearing a former OC at a rival school has put in for it and I’m hearing a couple other guys with lots of experience from the area are interested in it.
I’m guessing it’s less pay so older candidates may not be as interested in it but it could mean they are looking to go younger this time.
Any news? Why would it be lower pay? City school system has the opportunity to have flexibility is they so choose
Hearing a lot of chatter in the community about a Coach adkins assistant who played at EW for him and followed him to MA.
If they don’t attach the AD role to the next coach he won’t get paid for the extra responsibility.
If it’s who I’m hearing I think it would be a really good hire. Elkin needs the hire to be somebody who’s invested in rebuilding the program not just using it as a retirement job or a stepping stone.
Was told Friday that before April 1st it should be known to the public officially who the new HC is.
Yep I was told we’d know next week. I haven’t heard anymore about if they already know privately or if they are still interviewing.
If it’s who I’ve been told then I am happy for elkin. If he can get what he needs from administration and community support I’m sure Elkin will be good again in time.
I believe we are on the same page here. 5th & 6th grade group I know has some talent from this past year. If the coach can be patient and like you said get the support from the town and admin things could def be better in about 3 years or so.
Heard from some people in town the guy I was hearing didn’t end up getting it. Lots of frustration from some people in the community. Hearing the guy they went with is the opposite of what the town wanted.
Last I heard it was down to 2 - no brainer on who should get it if the two names I heard were the finalists.
Interesting…care to elaborate? Is one an Elkin guy and the other an outsider?
The people I talked to thought it was down to two MA assistants one from the JK coaching tree and one who was a long time NS guy. Evidently it’s really leaning more towards a in-house hire at this point.
Yes the MA route was my total understanding even as of the weekend. In house is now what I have also heard. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
I don't think this is the place to elaborate too much, but let me just say, if they hire the right guy they give themselves a shot to be relevant again. If not, then same ole, same ole...
I won’t elaborate anymore I’ll be done. I just don’t think they made the right decision to hire a guy whose been on staff for a long time.
