A couple days ago in chat people asked who would get hurt this game. People said Dixon. I said Elliot with an ACL just kind of thinking of the worst thing that could happen. Of course.

it had nothing to do with the arm other than that was what impeded his foot from leaving the ground, thus hyperextending his knee. I called a torn ACL right after watching the replay. its all about the mechanism.

I have a gut feeling he will never play again. that damn knee was sidewise and never moved as they were carrying him off the field. Just Damn Ugly and makes me sick to my stomach. and I hope Rusty Linton isn't the surgeon too.

he redshirted last year. don't know how much you can or can't play for a medical redshirt. Seems that rule changes every year.

he did not appear to have an MCL and/or meniscus injury (though ruling out the meniscus injury is hard to do in a simple hyperextension case like elliot's)...MRI will tell more, so an ACL reconstruction with a portion of his own patellar tendon can be done within 2-3 weeks, after his swelling subsides. Pretty simple procedure for a fellowship trained ortho sports surgeon. Assisted on 5 last week on a couple of athletes with a guy who operates on college and pro athletes all the time.

What is it with the injuries? seriously? Look at last year and now this year. Has anyone had any luck similiar to what MSU has had these past 2 years with freakin injuries? Damn! It's a never ending freaking cycle of ****** luck and stupidity with this team. Never ending! Clark Griswald would look freaking look like a lucky guy next to this screwed up organization. How much **** can go wrong?

you are much better at calling complex injuries than picking the winners against the spread.

well I guess my years of post college education/training have paid off. it is what i get paid to do. and for the record, to a well trained eye, how the injury happened can oftentimes give you a diagnosis. he may or may not have torn his ACL, but they way the injury occurred certainly makes it plausible.

as for picking against the spread. i was 15/18 last week in the yahoo pick'em and 49/74 on the year in top 25 games. you can't win them all. yesterday was a pretty bad day but still 8/15 overall.

...and the better the player, the weaker the ACL. Elliot should've gone to Ole Miss...he'd probably still be healthy.

If by chance it's bad enough to miss next year, he could get one for that year.

Best of luck to him.

That sucks for him. He is considered our hardest working back and right when he is starting to contribute on offense he gets hurt. Off topic but does anyone else besides me think he scores on that ball that Ducre dropped.</p>

So it's possible he won't get up and do a dance rockin dat numba 2 after scoring to cut a 38-0 game to 38-7?

To quote James Coburn, "I'll be damned. I will be damned."

I'll be impressed.

Hope it's not true though he is a great back.

Yes I do think he catches that ball Ducre doped, and yes he has a nice chance at scoring.

I thought that was one of the reasons you had such a good season (and Henig's injury doesn't really count because it made your team better).

that you would have celebrated your first ever College TD no matter what the score is as well... This is not the first time somebody has celebrated that.

keep hope alive.

the way that thing dragged off the field, it could be several ligaments. i don't think he drags it like that if it's only an ACL - he would at least be able to hold his foot off the ground. may be an ACL and other damage.

we started reminiscing about david fair right after that play. hope this doesn't happen to elliott. even if it is an ACL, he could get back on the field. don't write him off just yet.

We're paying this year for the few injuries suffered last year. But, hey, it means more PT for the younger guys.

I was looking forward to putting my knee on ice, popping some vicodin and watching the GT-State game, we know how that went.

No Fun, I did the hammy autograft. Dr. said it was like a cable. Would they not do a patellar tendon from a cadaver to speed recovery and keep from weakening his own petellar tendon?

first time did the hamstring tendon, second time the patellar (quad) tendon. the good knews for you is that the rehab after the hammy was much easier to handle than the second. supposedly, that's why they are going away from patellar tendons - easier/quicker rehab. enjoy the vicodins while you have them.

doctors differ on whether to use allografts (cadavers) for ACLs. obviously, the rehab wouldn't be as bad because you're not going to have to rehab the place where the replacement tendon is taken from, like you said. on my second surgery, one doctor first suggested an allograft, but i didn't really like the way he handled patients (he was pushy with the allograft), and a second doctor told me "if it was my knee, i wouldn't use an allograft". come to find out, the first doctor soon thereafter published some findings about allografts in ACLs.

carson palmer's ACL was an allograft. i've heard of other people getting allografts and they were fine. if my living was centered around my athletic ability, though, i may go the route with the best chance to quickly get back to where i was. i wonder what willis mcgahee had done to his knee...
