Couch thing was a disaster, but we've had far worse offenses than the Uzelac offense armed with Billy Jack and Moe Williams.

Moe left and things got bad.

There is life after being a football coach at UK. But to remember those early Couch days were a huge mismatch.

He was a scumbag. He burned 2 or 3 players the last game he was there just for spite.

I didn't like that either but I'm not sure that you could put it all on him. You have a HC and the player and parents also have to agree or it doesn't happen.

He recuited

Wish he was our o/line coach, under Curry he put together a good online that morris got credit for,it was Uzelac who recruited and coached

hunterpapa, you may, (?), be correct regarding putting together together a good off. line, however, if his efforts were no more successful than his offensive skills&play design-------Option---------------with Couch at the qb position, then he was an abject failure!!!!!!

Wasn't it Jimmy Haley specifically that Curry/ Uzelac took the redshirt off in their collective last games at UK against Tennessee in 96.

Seem to remember they sent him out there to be a punt returner (of all things) and then instructed him only to fair catch no matter if he had running room or not.

My memory may be a little fuzzy on the entire incident but that right there is the definition of spite.

And seem to remember that the parents were as stunned by the whole situation as anybody.

Maybe. I thought it was Jason Watts. I do believe they burned Haley's as well but a few games earlier. Watts I believe came into the game half way through the final game of the year. So we burned his red shirt for 2 quarters of play.

It was Watts. They talked all year about this tremendous prospect they were redshirting. Believe Uze said Watts wanted to play so he put him in. Watts was a naturally strong "good ole boy" who could really play. Sadly his off the field activities led to a tragedy. Uzelac's decision was shameful and childish.

You may be correct. I seem to remember Curry saying he checked it out with Haley and his parents and they agreed to it. Could be wrong, though.

Nope that was the only reason fans let up on the staff because the parents agreed. Why? I haven't a clue.

Both him and Mike Major hold a special place in my UK heart for not only being grade A a%holes, but also some of the worst coordinators in UK history.
