the BS about his wife forcing a move to anywhere-but-Starkville is just that , BS. Ellis Johnson knew damn well that we lucked out last year and that that kind of luck would not/could not be sustained. He did what any intelligent , marketable individual would do and got the hell out while he could instead of sinking with a lost cause . If you read anything more into his leaving than this you`re fooling yourself.

being relieved. Then who worth a damn is going to want to take the OC at State??? It's all falling in place..Croom upgraded Cheese to DC (maybe not a bad move)..but did he look around at all? Croom will only replace Woody with some "up and coming" DC from the SWAC or similar....that's all...the word is out, boys...

anymore than he can land a good recruiting class. Yea some highschoolers drank the koolaid right after the season and committed but most of them will wise up if they have other options. MSU is headed down a dead end street with with this genius.

exactly what I think. EJ was by far and away the best coach on our staff last season and that includes the one at the top.

thanks for letting us enjoy the little success that we had.

Really, could you not have waited for six months? Hell, you even had the spring game to tide you over till then.

I really couldnt enjoy last year due to the fact I saw it was an abberation and this season was going to be **** again. Winning a battle but losing the war is meaningless...Glad you enjoyed your battle more than I did

Aberration or not we WON against Bama, Auburn, and Ole Miss, went to a bowl and won it. I'd take an aberration like that every year.

One thing about MSU football- you have to enjoy what you can get when and however you get it.

"I'd take an aberration like that every year. "

When its an abberation, you there is no chance of it happening again until a change is made. False hope does more damage than no hope

...now.. how much of her wanting to leave played a part in him taking another job? I have no idea. But she welcomed a move and I know that for a fact.

People love to knock Coach for his negativity but he has been pretty much spot on about this season and the coaching staff.

Seriously, how many bowl games have we been to in our history? Add to that the fact that it had been 6 seasons of 3 wins or less. I don't care if it was an abberation or not, last year was fun - beating Saban and Bama, beating Ole Miss, beating Kentucky, going to a bowl game. Again, if you didn't enjoy that you really should find another team to pull for.

Some of us were going to bask in the glow of last season as long as we could because you always know as a State fan that there is always a dark cloud over the horizon. Those of you that did nothing but complain last season, well I feel sorry for you.

You can call it an aberration, but since it really happened, I enjoyed it. I didn't have any false hope about the future- I predicted 3-9 before this season.

I also enjoyed going to the CWS in 07 even though I knew that Polk wasn't the answer long term for baseball. I never liked bringing back Polk, but at least I can give him credit where credit is due, and when he actually did something good, I enjoyed it. You can take a strance and still enjoy the good times.

(For reference, the good during Polk II was the CWS in 07 and the SEC Tournament Championship in 05)

Are you really surprised that he didnt enjoy a successful season for MSU? I feel pretty confident he is enjoying the hell out of this season
