I think this would make an interesting combo. EJ est. in the SEC. Knows MSU. Hudspeth. Young innovative offensive mind. Can take lesser players and be productive. Also from the area so he knows the recruiting trails. Also, EJ would give him full rei of the offense. I still like petersen from Boise, bt the combo intrigues me.

aleady left here...hell, we've been there and done that. As for Hudspeth, that level is a lot different than a BCS level. I wish we could work Norman Joseph into the scheme somewhere, even if not the HC...maybe OC.

definately agree.....even though they are coaching at a smaller level, they also have smaller level talent that they are working with as well....by the way, the triple option will never work in a BCS conferece

Rich Rodriguez was a head coach at a small Division II school in the mountains of West Virginia. Since then, he's been an offensive coordniator for Tommy Bowden at Tulane and Clemson, then a Head Coach at West Virginia, where he went 60-26, had 2 BCS bowls, and damn near won a national title. Now he's the Head Coach at Michigan.

That's pretty impressive for a Division II coach.

An article in the last month in The State (South Carolina's state paper) had all kinds of quotes from Ellis and his wife about finally being home. I doubt he leaves the Gamecocks without Spurrier pushing him out, which ain't happening anytime soon.

"Taking the MSU job is the equivalent of throwing an anchor to a drowning man".

Sad but that is how we are viewed by all. Hopefully a good hire will shut up some of these people.

coaches they bring in...the cocks will max out at 7 wins and 1 win over Clemson every 4 years. However, our program has been the worst in the SEC this decade.

of all time just to get them to 8-4 type seasons. Yes, ours is not an easy job, but 2 really bad hires (Felker and Croom) have had more to do with our misery over the past 25 years than anything. Sherrill had a pretty good 10 year run until his motivation was gone and our SEC brethren decided it was time to sic the NCAA on us. The funny thing is I don't even remember hardly any of Sherrill's recruiting classes in the 90s being highly ranked. His best ranked classes were the ones where we were already going downhill fast in the early 2000s.

both he and his wife would take no more than 30 seconds to choose to live in Starkville again.

and that is to WIN!!! It is not impossible. It won't be easy by any means, but it can be done. JWS got us national exposure and legitimacy during his tenure until he became complacent. Call me a homer, but I do believe that with the right hire, someone who brings a fire-in-the-belly desire to win and has a burning desire to make his mark in the toughest conference in the nation will result in the opportunity to bring us back to a level of respect in the conference. While I am not complacent on mediocrity, I think the majority of our fan base would be very happy with someone that can lead us to consistently 7-8 win seasons and a yearly bowl. And be in a position to make a run for Atlanta every few years. This is an opportunity for us to get out **** together. I think GB has the bigger picture in mind with this hire. Also, I think he is the type of manager that will DEMAND his coaches to "be good, or be gone" (thanks for the quote opportunity Crooms!). Thank God we don't don't have that piece of **** Lonny Tinkle heading this search! BB
