Jackie used to say that a team could not emotionally get up for every game in the season. Who has got the emotional edge in this game, State or Auburn? Does it matter? I think Auburn's got an emotional advantage because ofits underdog status and its sorry playlast week.IfAU starts out strong all the confidence issues go away and emotions carry the day for them....if they start out mediocre or bad, experienceand MSU wins. I think the fist quarter plays a heavier role in this game than usual. Just a humble fans opinion.

This has become a big rivalry game to us. To me, AU has jumped way ahead of Bama. Judging by what has been posted on here from AU's messageboards, I can't say that they even think we are really in the SEC conference.

Plus our coaches and players are the only ones in this game that have any emotional baggage coming in...We feel like we have something to prove,...AU? not so much. They have gotten basically everything things that could have asked for recently.

I'm actually pretty glad that AU squeaked it out last week. If they had lost, then they would be looking to avenge and embarrassing loss. But by actually winning, they don't have that urgency. My only worry for this game is something that I rarely experience, its "I hope we don't have a bad game". Usually in a game like this (usually we suck), my worrying for the game is "Damn, we are gonna have to play 'out of our asses' just to have a chance." I think if we just play par football for us, then we are taking a knee at the end of the game.

I feel also think we might have a rivalry on our hands the likes of OM/LSU .... except we are pretty good and AU is NOT LSU. But we have the same chip on our shoulder towards AU that OM does for LSU... and AU's undeserved cockiness amazingly trumps any Corndog pride. They have ZERO reason to "overlook" us, but I think they actually will to a certain degree.

and even the crowd will be rockin it the 1st quarter.
Ifwe can come out and withstand that first quarter and even jump on them early it is going to be a huge advantage for us. We CANNOT allow au to get anearly 10-14 point lead.
Hopefully we win the toss, take the ball and drive the field in about 10-14 plays and get an early TD.

AU are still the reigning champs with a target on their back. i would bet our team is looking at this game as such and believe if we don't give up any early big plays that we should be able to run the ball on them and control the game. they only had 70-80 yards rushing with Dyer/McCaleb last week so getting pressure on Trotter(who played better when Utah St didn't pressure him) will be the biggest key to this game IMHO.
