Everyone wants to blame someone for THE SPIKE. but if you had your *** beaten 8 times, the rhinos are snorting again, you just had three drops, against the no. 4 team in the country, and after all you ARE Rutgers,
you might think you had five downs too!
P.S. student section filled in nicely by 9:30.

Maybe it's me, but this is one of the most confusing posts (including the title) I've ever read.

I think the OP is on to something. Punts and kicks were drifting in a weird way last night. If the upstairs seats were filled, this would not have happened. MSU would have missed that extra point. MSUs final kickoff would have landed in Grant's hands and he would have run it back for a TD.

My wife noticed that the scoreboard at the north end that our team was facing said it was 3rd down. In all the rush and confusion right then, that didn't help us any.

The unfortunate thing is that with Ohio State coming to town all those seats will find a way to be filled with Scarlet and grey - Rutgers fans need to show up in numbers!

I don't think anyone should be faulting the crowd at last night's game. The crowd was on its feet and screaming for almost the entire game, as should be expected from the fans of a B1G team. It was great fun to be there.

the crowd was terrific last night...into the game and loud. loudest moment since the Michigan game last year was the 3rd and 9 on MSU'slast drive. unfortunate their WRs continued to make catches...

and while the student section was excellent by Q2, there is no excuse not to get your butts in your seats well before kickoff for an 8pm start. 8-10 hours of tailgating is not enough?

Me too, I had my kid with me who checked out by the 3rd quarter . So I held him and stayed in the seats, but with people standing I could really only watch the board. The downs updated too slow, and if our qb was using that then he would have messed up

Ok I'll let you into a newsflash which I just found out about. A number of fans from other B1G teams in the area MSU (know for a fact) and I'm sure Mich, OH ST & WISKY bought season tickets for RU because it was MUCH MUCH Cheaper to do so than fly out to the Midwest, hotel, rental car, eat & get tickets for their home games. They are either selling or just not coming to the other games very sobering we could not box them out

From what I have heard in the past some of those upper seats are sold but the people sit elsewhere. The student section ends up with more people in it than seats as some people with upper tickets choose to move there. The local Fire Marshall restricts the overall capacity of the stadium.

Yes, the term "seat" can only be loosely appplied to the student section. They just pack the whole section with as many bodies as can fit. Nobody is worried about sitting.

207 had many many Spartan fans with the upper rows more green and white
than scarlet

But we do expect that some of these B1G teams with long histories will have fans that travel. Shouldn't be that surprising.
