What a terrible situation. Girl is now brain dead and he is going to get fired. Hopefully this gets enough press to counter these crap measures.

Principal RoseAnn LaCioppa wrote in a letter to parents of the school, "I want to reassure you that our school personnel has been trained in response to emergencies and we will always follow all protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of all our students."

Lol. This blatantly false CYA talk kills me.

Somebody needs to sue somebody. If more people would sue, these problems would go away.

EMT said no one was assisting the girl when he arrived.

Notice she never once said they attempted to help the child. Same for the NY Dept of Ed press release.

Sad that no one was helping her and they had to flag a ambulance down on the road. Where were the teachers and staff?

It is getting to a point where it just isn't worth it to be in an industry to help people. Doctors are sued while trying to save lives. EMT's getting into trouble trying to save lives. Police getting in trouble while trying to protect people while risking their lives. Sure there are times when people in those professions don't make the right decisions, but for the most part they are trying to do the right thing and help people.

My wife is a nurse practitioner. Back in Feb. she was driving to an off-site clinic and had to stop for a a bad accident on the interstate. She was the first civilian on the scene and ended up providing aid & deciding which patient would go on life-flight. Pretty intense stuff.

The next day at her work she got called in to talk to the hospital lawyer. They wanted to make sure that her actions were provided as a good samaritan and not as part of the hospital. No concern for her well-being, just CYA. This is the world we live in.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where people will sue for just about anything. I mean an aunt sued her 8 year old nephew for breaking her wrist while giving her a hug. This after his parents had just died.

As an experienced RN, the trick is to not let people know you're an RN. You still help, but as anonymously as possible.
