You don’t have a problem with someone saying “I’m staying” and then leaving for another school right after that? Google the Texas am baseball coach for a prime example.

If you have interest in other jobs, just give vague answers so you do t look like a complete liar and fraud.
Literally everyone is staying until they’re not. Everyone wants to make it work until someone wants them more or they are in a better position to succeed.

I think we all had a problem with the way barnett left. But he also performed a miracle so most fans weren’t that mad.

Plus our idiot AD at the time signed Kevin O’Neill to a bigger contract than what Barnet was getting. It was ludicrous.

Yes, you can thank that egomaniac/douchebag Rick Taylor for Barnett’s departure.

Yeah he didn’t have the Colorado contract. He was, however, negotiating with UCLA while in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl.
Here’s a quote from Chicago Tribune article Thursday, Jan 21, 1999 which was a day after it was announced he was leaving for Colorado. It says he sent a message to players “that week” that he was staying which couldn’t have been more than 2 days before he left (right now I can’t find a story saying exactly when the message to the players was sent). Obviously he would have interviewed and negotiated by the time he was sending that email to the players.

“For example, his players cited a mass e-mail from Barnett this week, assuring them that he wasn’t going to Colorado. Imagine their surprise when they awoke to find “Gary’s Gone” splashed in bold type across the front page of Wednesday’s Daily Northwestern.

“To tell you the truth, it made a lot of people lose respect for him because of the e-mail and what was said,” sophomore running back Brian Marshall said. “He gave us his word. When anybody goes back on his word, you lose respect for him. How can you trust him?””

Also, reading newspaper articles from back then makes we wish we had at least 10 more years of Randy Walker.

There’s more to the story…ask Rick Taylor.

Colorado was completely unprepared despite having the Heisman Trophy winner and likely two top 5 NFL draft choices playing for them. The game was not even as close as the score indicates. All hype, little substance.
2 yards rushing. FOR THE ENTIRE GAME!

Also, did anyone else watch the game? The announcers were the most egregiously one sided (pro-Colorado) commentators I think I’ve ever seen from a “neutral” broadcast.

I had it on mute.

Colorado/Prime are in such a better place than 2 years ago. It's basically an IMG sports academy at college level

Will this be Sanders’ last game for CU? His schtick would work great in Vegas. He can draft his QB son. The cameras can follow them around 24/7!

Oh no, he took over the arguably the worst P5 program (tied with us?) two years ago and only won 9 games this year after losing to a higher ranked team in a bowl! Only 7-2 in conference!

He convinced absolute studs to join him at an HBCU (unprecedented) and transfer there because they love playing for him. He changed the culture of his program by bringing in guys who wanted to be part of the team. And his incoming class is amazing.

He raised the profile of his university overall and admissions skyrocketed, especially among POC applicants. Donations way up.

He preaches respect for women, manners (no hats indoors, saying sir or ma’am), and is strict on marijuana use (in Colorado, at a state school, with 18-22 year olds).

But he’s too flashy so certain poster(s) have to root against him. Or maybe it’s because he will leave a more positive legacy on CU than Gary Barnett and they’re bitter about it.

An an amazing recruiter as the head coach, National Publicity (Sports Illustrated, ESPN, 60 Minutes) 2 top 5 picks, a Heisman winner, NIL better than most programs and world class facilities they could not beat a mountain west team in their bowl.

He definitely benefited from a weak schedule. It’ll be interesting to see if/where he goes this offseason.

Will Coach Prime still be in charge when Colorado visits the new Ryan Field on Sept. 19, 2026? That's all I care about him.

This is why college football is in the mess it's in. Everyone blames the NCAA but coaches are just as much to blame when they pull crap like this.

Everyone takes the bag. Yet despite this, all of this on this board will be watching Monday night.

So Sheduer is a complete jerk. What does it make this Executive who went public with this unnecessary tirade. Pot meet Kettle.
