If/when any of the '27 or '28 recruits decommit Beth HAS to make a change. And thankfully she's proven that she's not afraid of doing just that.
The Bassets were program changing recruits that we lost, not to mention the Raneys, Forrest, etc. Another problem is those guys are destined for world/olympics and then they join the coaching ranks against us.

The upcoming classes are good but I don’t see them winning us a team title. Not to mention, if brands gets fired they likely open up their recruiting.

lol. He was the #1 guy at his weight class. It’s not like true freshmen that are AA ready grow on trees. Especially at the upper weights. They actually did have Angelo just last year, but they didn’t need to use him.
lol. Doesn't look like it.

AJ took an Olympic redshirt to fight his legal issues (i.e. harass the woman into dropping the SA case). Maybe he can get a medical RS this year while he's in jail?
Hopefully, he’s shirting this year.
i love him buster keaton GIF

As these things add up, the apathy will grow. Don’t see Friday or the rest of this season doing much to help the direction of the trajectory.
They could easily lose 8 or more matches at home Friday night. When is the last time that happened?

They may not grow on trees but PSU sure seems to have their own forest full of them
Their recruiting is absolutely incredible. Still, they have found a way to “grey shirt” most of the guys that go as “true freshmen” and still both guys are at the lower half of the weight classes, which was the main part of my point.

Any which way you want to frame it, comparing recruiting to PSU is an exercise in futility. There simply NEVER has been a remotely close comparison. If they really want a guy it’s as close to a guarantee they land him as there has ever been in DI wrestling…

Any chance you know David Taylor was getting smoked by Cyler Sanderson and Bubba Jenkins a significant portion of his true freshman season?

With the focus on 1 sport being more prevalent in High School now, along with much more access to train with top college guys, there are definitely more guys coming in DI ready than ever before. STILL, nearly all need that first year in the room to adapt…

This sucks! However I wish Endenne the best of health and happiness with his family. I pray for everyones sake that this was just a family decision and was no way based on taking the money and running.
Would Mo still have eligibility in D3, or is the JC exception just for D1? If he does, do we see him appear on the Wartburg roster?

how far do we fall now
Definitely still well ahead of missori and Minnesota. If Forrest is in the line up for the season the OK state has passed the Hawks for sure and Nebraska is pretty comparable. Getting a team trophy will require several guys to step up big but it is still possible.

Ludington has one more date left where he can still keep his RS. As an outsider looking in, I'd probably use that on Friday rather than have Gabe gain 15 lbs in 3 days and then have to go against Barr. Give Gabe as much time as possible to get acclimated to the new weight.
Barr is going to TF either one so no reason throwing Ludington to the wolves. Just my two cents.

The complaints about Iowa recruiting for the 197 weight are ridiculous. Iowa got the #1 ranked 197 pound HS recruit in Ludington. To allow him to redshirt (which is needed for 99% of 197 pound freshmen), Iowa picked up a one-year transfer portal wrestler that rose up to being ranked #4. That recruiting for 197 looked pretty good until this unexpected situation with Mo.

If Mo got booted for steriods, how is that Brand;s; fault?
If Mo took his NIL money and ran, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo had academic issues, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo just wanted to end his wrestling career and go to work and support his family, how is that Brands' fault?

Coaches can have a lot of influence on their athletes, but in the end the athletes make career decisions for themselves that are out of the control of the coaches.

I agree with your first point on 197 recruiting. Not sure about there being no scenario that Mo leaving involves brands having no fault. Maybe but maybe not. It’s none of our business though I guess.

Theres only 60 days left. Yes coaches have some responsibilitywith any of these. Some not all. Job of leadership to hold things together, guide kids…clark in classs, desantos, alger etc.

What if he didn’t care for the culture at Iowa and was going to seek a medical to catch on with another school next year?

Would that be Brands fault?

WELP, I guess you try to look at the bright side(as soon as someone finds it???) but although he was entertaining and fun to watch and could have AAed. He was NOT the answer to bring IOWA a title so there is that!

MAYBE you start to look at things/see things more clearly/differently now and begin a new approach? NOT sure what that approach could/would/should be???? but i might say start figuring out how to get IOWA in the same discussion as F*** st and now OAK st, with maybe Ohio st getting in on it TWOOOO!!!

IF you don't do it, and I mean RIGHT F-IN NOW!!! You set the program back even more and could just KILL IT which would be the ULTIMATE SIN!!!

IOWA- WRESTLE TOWN USA- has to have a TOP program!!! IF it goes "south"(mean to hell) USA Wrestling takes a B1GGER and FASTER HIT then I thought even possible!!! As it stands, the GR8 Krailure has almost single handily turned POS ncaa D1 wrestling into SHeeetttt almost overnight and people are not getting it!!!

WHERE is the competition??? We could be down to 3 skools soon!!! Unlike Football where there is plenty of $$$$ and business willing to step in and pay(see Indiana) Wrestling does not have this luxury!!! Once ADs see teams with NOTHING to offer(see Cal Bap) no fans, no spirit, no path forward to win, build, etc.....

WELP the writing is on the walls an you DUMMIES can't read!!!

Maybe Angelo wrestles Barr for this week. He might lose a close one and get ridden out, but he's not giving up a takedown to Barr so it'll be a toss up. Though that could sacrifice a potential win at 184 in the process. Could pull an upset as well, not like he doesn't go with Buchanan.
No reason to move Angelo up one weight, Gabe gets horsed by Rocco. Nothing to gain.

Whether Endenne has a neck injury or not is a good question.
If true, I'd think Brands couldn't say anything due to medical privacy rules.

Stop. “Hawkeye.source” is a troll account and doesn’t know anything about anything.

They implying he fulfilled his NIL contractual obligations, got paid and moved on with his life (while leading all to incorrectly believe he was commited to the season)?

There's no pay for play.

If this is true then Brands is incredibly stupid. Real NIL deals are written to prevent this. That’s how most are done and why the number of opt outs for bowl games has gone down. It’s how Iowa football’s are written.

Why doesn't PSU have all of these issues? I no longer believe Brands is the answer.
Time for new blood. Imo
