The complaints about Iowa recruiting for the 197 weight are ridiculous. Iowa got the #1 ranked 197 pound HS recruit in Ludington. To allow him to redshirt (which is needed for 99% of 197 pound freshmen), Iowa picked up a one-year transfer portal wrestler that rose up to being ranked #4. That recruiting for 197 looked pretty good until this unexpected situation with Mo.

If Mo got booted for steriods, how is that Brand;s; fault?
If Mo took his NIL money and ran, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo had academic issues, how is that Brands' fault?
If Mo just wanted to end his wrestling career and go to work and support his family, how is that Brands' fault?

Coaches can have a lot of influence on their athletes, but in the end the athletes make career decisions for themselves that are out of the control of the coaches.
Some coaches seem to pass on high level athletes because of "character issues".

Jax says hi 👋

He does, But barring another weird home cooking call against Caliendo, I don't see him losing to Lockett twice. And we had the Vega-Bailey match that could've certainly flipped as well if Nasir is even still in the lineup at that point. Of course Spratley could get Peterson this time as well. Going to be a fun rematch.

I hate to say this because I have always like the Brands, but Iowa wrestling sure seems to be a slowly (maybe not slowly) sinking ship. Hope I am wrong, and this starts to head in a different direction.

Surely the NIL money is not paid up front. Has to be incremental doesn't it, like
Did I read somewhere that when Brands hangs it up that moneybags Bob will no longer be involved with the program?

Well...if no decision has been made yet, let me be the first to discourage that idea. I for one hope he owns your next coach too...

Stop. “Hawkeye.source” is a troll account and doesn’t know anything about anything.

If this is true then Brands is incredibly stupid. Real NIL deals are written to prevent this. That’s how most are done and why the number of opt outs for bowl games has gone down. It’s how Iowa football’s are written.
You think Vanderbilt's All-American Tight End wasn't getting paid? LOL!

And oddly enough he was healthy and still opted out of the game against Iowa.

As did plenty of others, it hasn't gone down because of NIL (a CBA would take care of that). The only ones that don't opt out are largely starters who are still playing for a National Title (and some of those teams have opt outs from bench players, who apparently don't give a damn about being on a National Championship Team and want to hit the portal asap).

Iowa itself had a bench WR opt out of the Bowl Game to hit the transfer portal, so he must not have signed the same deal as everyone else on the team according to your claim......(unless you think Iowa just let this guy not honor his NIL deal, and everyone else had to....... not likely)

Whether Endenne has a neck injury or not is a good question.
If true, I'd think Brands couldn't say anything due to medical privacy rules.
That could be true. It may also be the reason my source didn't mention that at all as the reason.

That’s because he’s the best tight in America, and he decided getting ready for the draft was more important than that December paycheck. If Endene’s deal didn’t include provisions for not receiving the full amount if he leaves the team, or if he got the full amount upfront, shame on Iowa wrestling for being super stupid.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Heinrichs is on record about this.

A baby and coincidental neck injury at the same time. Interesting. Sounds better than breach of contract
It took four pages for someone to draw this conclusion, even if it was in jest.
if you haven’t experienced a child being born, don’t comment. If this was his first child, it is possible that wrestling dropped way down on his list of priorities.
it would be refreshing to hear Tom say, “Due to personal and family reasons, Mo is no longer with the University of Iowa Wrestling team. We wish him and his family the best, and thank him for his contributions to the team.
Not hard.

I have no idea what this means.
We pay Penn State's team to f***ing throw the dual and let Iowa win..............

Why is that hard to understand? Just do it and feel peace when you go to bed Friday night knowing you did the right thing.

Wrestlers are simple creatures. They will let Iowa win a meaningless conference dual for $10 million and we get to rub their fans' faces in it.

WELP, I guess you try to look at the bright side(as soon as someone finds it???) but although he was entertaining and fun to watch and could have AAed. He was NOT the answer to bring IOWA a title so there is that!

MAYBE you start to look at things/see things more clearly/differently now and begin a new approach? NOT sure what that approach could/would/should be???? but i might say start figuring out how to get IOWA in the same discussion as F*** st and now OAK st, with maybe Ohio st getting in on it TWOOOO!!!

IF you don't do it, and I mean RIGHT F-IN NOW!!! You set the program back even more and could just KILL IT which would be the ULTIMATE SIN!!!

IOWA- WRESTLE TOWN USA- has to have a TOP program!!! IF it goes "south"(mean to hell) USA Wrestling takes a B1GGER and FASTER HIT then I thought even possible!!! As it stands, the GR8 Krailure has almost single handily turned POS ncaa D1 wrestling into SHeeetttt almost overnight and people are not getting it!!!

WHERE is the competition??? We could be down to 3 skools soon!!! Unlike Football where there is plenty of $$$$ and business willing to step in and pay(see Indiana) Wrestling does not have this luxury!!! Once ADs see teams with NOTHING to offer(see Cal Bap) no fans, no spirit, no path forward to win, build, etc.....

WELP the writing is on the walls an you DUMMIES can't read!!!
You are correct especially when D1 college football schools are talking about dropping down.

The experts are saying to include the great Saban there will be 25-30 schools competing for the national title at D1 and that's football what do you think will happen with wrestling.

Division 1 wrestling is in a lot of trouble and don't blame coaches blame the system (NIL) it's going to affect all sports.

If you don't see it you should watch what's being said on Capital Hill. There already starting to make commercials to talk to your congressman to save college athletics.

WRESTLING IS DONE EVERYWHERE FIND SOMETHING NEW

We beat okie state without a heavy weight
I wouldn't bet on Peterson beating spratley again unfortunately though I also slightly favor caliendo in a rematch with lockett unless he's built up his gas tank substantially. Kennedy vs facundo will be close and of course they also now have Jax Forrest who will 100% wrestle iowa whether he red shirts or not

@TheREALSpooner

I think there may be confusion between the revenue sharing part of the NIL settlement (which Universities pay) and NIL deals from 3rd party boosters.

The lion's share of revenue sharing goes to football. Wrestling may see little to none. PSU wrestling asked for 30 scholarships and none of the revenue sharing. And not all players on the team need get the same share amount.

Revenue shares may be contingent on performance metrics and participation in a bowl or playoff. In contrast, 3rd Party NIL contracts are prohibited from being contingent on athletic participation or performance to prevent pay for play.

Maybe Angelo wrestles Barr for this week. He might lose a close one and get ridden out, but he's not giving up a takedown to Barr so it'll be a toss up. Though that could sacrifice a potential win at 184 in the process. Could pull an upset as well, not like he doesn't go with Buchanan.
Yeah ok 😂

Now there’s also chatter on other forums that Mo is planning on transferring back to Warburg and attempting a medical redshirt. Also mentions of several wrestlers disgruntled about not getting paid what was promised re- NIL deals…

what is happening l?

The Bassets were program changing recruits that we lost, not to mention the Raneys, Forrest, etc. Another problem is those guys are destined for world/olympics and then they join the coaching ranks against us.

The upcoming classes are good but I don’t see them winning us a team title. Not to mention, if brands gets fired they likely open up their recruiting.
Iowa was not in the mix for Jac

Mo can only compete at D1. The ruling that gave JUCO transfers an extra year only lets them use that year at the D1 level. Its mainly why he went to Iowa this year after not going to Wisconsin last year (also $$ I am sure). If he gets a medshirt then I would guess he is at another D1 school come next fall. Hopefully cooler heads prevail however and he is back on the team and competes at Natty's this season
