If you're not watching, you should be. Turn it on.<div>
</div><div>Both squads have had a good chance already apiece. Could turn into a great game.</div>

After the 90 they should just go to sudden death and play it until someone scores. I don't care how long it takes someone will eventually score.

After one OT in basketball they don't go to a 3 point contest.
Baseball goes until someone wins
Football is (mostly) sudden death. College football at least incorporates the actual game of football, not a field goal contest for example

It doesnt reward anything and is pretty much who gets lucky

for each team, and/or bring in a goal that's a little larger. Lots of decent options to end a game over the shootout.

They play until they score.<div>
</div><div>Kicks from the mark amount to a coin flip. It can be exciting, but it's still a disappointing way to end 120 minutes of soccer.</div>

hockey game I ever saw (I've been to NHL games and NHL minor league games) was a juniors hockey game in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Regulation ended in a tie. They played 5 minutes of sudden death OT with no goals. They then proceeded to play more 5 minute sudden death OT periods, each with one player from each team removed.

It got down to 3 players and a goalie per side and was extremely exciting to watch. Very fast paced.

Not a fan of PK's- not sure I've been on a team that's ever won. Lost the rights to play in a JUCO final after losing one after probably being the better team in regulation... and they went on to cruise in the final.<div>
</div><div>HOWEVER, I've played in some long OT matches. Did one in HS in a semifinal in the rain on a field that had been flooded for three days. Mud up to your ankles, and they put sand on it to try and dry, which did nothing but add another layer to get through. Went to two 10's and two 5's, and I can tell you, I've never been more spent after anything than I was after that. Could not take my cleats off, could not tear tape, couldn't hardly yell. We didn't even celebrate, we just sat down.</div><div>
</div><div>And that's just HS, which is an 80 minute match. Sure, these guys are in tremendous shape, but 90' is a LONG time to be constantly moving. And then add the extra time... it's hard. In this type of tournament, especially, you don't want guys getting that tired. They don't have the time to recover.</div><div>
</div><div>I get the PK argument, but I also realize the other aspects. Maybe it'll change in the future, but there's a reason it hasn't changed yet. And that is not giving FIFA any credit, because they are mostly late to the game and also corrupt.</div>
