So the University has their story on how we got our first mascot. But there was a book about the Old Main dorm that was published about 20 years ago. It tells a different story. According to it the first Bully was an American Bulldog that wandered onto campus one day. Somebody fed it, and it stuck around. I say we go back to that tough, fiercely loyal, blue collar dog.

Article specifically states this is for the UK, we moved on from them back in 1776.

If English bulldogs are phased out of existence, we still can and should be the Bulldogs.

There are plenty of college mascots that don't exist in real life-
Duke's mascot is a devil that is blue.
St Louis' mascot is a mythical good luck figure.
Arizona State's mascot is a Sun Devil.
Ole Miss' mascot is a plantation owner...or a shark that lives on land...or a bear that lives in Mississippi.

Maybe not phased out, but lowered down a notch in competition. Put us in the new SEC-B Conference (the traditional lower half of the conference that can play for their own Championship). Either that or leave the SEC and join the AAC or some other smaller conference.
