If they keep this up, how will each team get 60 games played?

Why in the world are they shutting down operations and cancelling a series because one coach and one clubhouse staffer tested positive? Quarantine those two and keep rolling. All of their players tested negative. 17ing stupid.
If a team is just going to shut everything down over 1-2 positive tests, then what was the point of even trying to play in the first place? You knew there would be some positive tests. Everyone should sit in isolated, fortified bunkers singing kumbaya for the next 10 years- just to be safe. This **** is getting absurd.
I believe that outside of Miami and Philadelphia no other team has had a positive test. If they can just isolate those 2 teams, they should be fine.
I’m not sure it’ll ever get out but it’s clear someone or a group within the Marlins did something that everyone else is avoiding to get infected.

Rumor is some Marlins player(s) went out clubbing not too long ago.
I just can’t wrap my mind around cancelling games and closing down the facility when two non-players test positive. Makes zero sense. What is the point of expanded rosters/player pools if teams are going **** their pants over 1-2 positive tests? Why are they even trying to do this if that is the criteria for a shut down? EPL had dozens of positive tests along the way, but I don’t recall them ever stopping.
I’ll tell you this- if that is the mindset of MLB teams and American sports in general, there is no 17ing way ANYTHING outside of the tightest of pro sports bubbles can possibly work. It is set up to fail. As long as we are testing everyone multiple times per week, there are going to be some positives every now and then. It is inevitable.
Agreed. I honestly think any sport that does not go the bubble route is destined not to make it. I’ve enjoyed watching baseball and hope it makes it till the end, I just don’t see it happening.
In my opinion, the nfl would be wise to make plans for a bubble now.

Any info on how many players contracted the Spanish Flu, and did any die from it?

Liability concerns were not a big thing then.MLB played full schedules during Spanish Flu....except 1918 was shortened about 30 games for WWI...Spanish Flu killed around 50 Million Worldwide, 675K in US and lasted 15 months.
