Enough Dan talk for a moment. I want to talk Stricklin.

On every board I visit, there is one common thread about Stricklin. Nobody wants him anywhere near a coaching search should Hud not take the job. So I have to ask, why is he the AD if everybody wants to lock him away like a crazy uncle should a search be needed?

It's like saying, "I like the coach, but make sure he stays in the locker room during the game." It just doesn't add up...

This is ridiculous. I know everyone takes criticism when the football team is shitting the bed....... but saying Stricklin needs to go because a bunch of folks on the internet (who have probably never met him) think he is incompetent, is just ridiculous. This is proof that we WILL find a way to complain about everything.
MSU internet fans:
We need stadium expansion!!
Good luck filling that expansion you idiot!
At what point to we put up a statue for Mullen?
This idiot has to be fired after this down year or Stricklin is an idiot.
We have got to pay up if we want to keep Mullens!
How dumb can our AD be paying this idiot $2.5 M and we can't afford to hire top rate coordinators now.
Stansbury has to be fired!!! (Scott has balls enough to do it despite push back from major boosters)
That coaching search was a complete disaster, I mean we had to hire an assistant from Clempson??? (I actually think Ray is going to be good here)
Baseball needs renovating!!
Still waiting on the complaints about this, but I'm sure they are coming.

Let me be clear. I'm not saying Stricklin should be fired

but again, nobody wants him to handle a coaching search. It's just odd. Ultimately I think it says nobody, especially the fans, seems to be on the same page right now about anything.

I guess I have the same concerns with Stricklin and football as most, but have to give him credit for the direction we seem to be headed regarding a new baseball stadium. The easy choice would be just to renovate and expand but long term that'd be the absolute wrong decision. He seems to have recognized that and seems to be guiding us toward building new.

I'm not sure I'm so worried about him performing a search as I am him just having it in him to can Mullen this year if need be. Our soft schedules (that fans overwhelmingly supported) have put him in a tough spot with a coach underachieving but still having a significantly better record than is our norm. 5 years ago every one of us would have thought we'd be insane to even consider firing a coach with Mullen's record.

The obvious answer is that people don’t want to see another Rick Ray type hire in football. I’d like to think that if we were making a football hire, we could do much better....either Hudspeth (the obvious choice) or another Mullen sort of hire...coordinator at a successful program. (As opposed to the WR coach at Southwest Missouri State.)

At any rate, it doesn’t seem that we’re going to be making a hire in the near future.

My rant wasn't directed at you, but with the accurate summation that you present from reading the boards. It just blows my mind sometimes how we will complain about everything, and forget recent history if it aids our point. People try to paint Stricklin as weak, but want to completely forget about the Stansbury situation. Both Stricklin and Keenum showed balls of steel on that one and went against what most of our big basketball boosters wanted. To me that says that when it is time for Dan to go, he will get his walking papers. The fact is though, that you can not fire a coach for one bad year when he has brought you one of the most successful runs in school history.

How in the world anyone can point to Ray as a bad hire (at this point) is beyond me. We definitely overachieved with what we had on the roster last season.

What classifies our last 20 games as part of some successful run? We beat losers and get blown out by everybody else.
