Almost midway through the season. Any picks? I see Man U winning it this year and Man. City getting the 4th place spot, though I'd love for them to sneak in and shock the world (every country except USA)

However, I see Arsenal beating Man. U. 2-1 on Monday. If Nasri can stay flashy and Rooney can keep slumping, it just might happen.

Also, Tottenham beats Chelsea on Sunday, easily.

of Arsenal winning and Chelsea losing. If I'm not mistaken, that would put Arsenal at the top of the table. Still a lot of games to be played but if Arsenal can get some players completely healthy (Vermaelen, Fabregas, Van Persie, Walcott), they'd have a pretty good shot to win it all.

And Spurs better get their money's worth in the Champions League this year, because there are too many injuries and questions in defense to put up a solid run for top 4 again. Although if Chelsea keeps up their current form, it could be another non-traditional top 4...

i wouldn't be too surprised if spurs beat chelsea, the way things are trending. would be a bit more surprised by arsenal winning away to united. let's face it, arsenal have been poor lately, defensively quite shaky, i can't see them going to united and handing them their first defeat of the season.

i don't really see a team winning it yet. arsenal are too weak defensively, though they've been hurt by vermaelen's injury. neither chelsea or united have looked good. i actually wouldn't be too shocked by city. they have lots of problems at the moment (internal) but they'll probably toss some cash around in the winter again.

I just hope Newcastle doesn't get relegated again. If Carroll doesn't transfer, they might hold on. Even that might not matter, as I have no idea what the 17 is going on with the owner. He's like the Al Davis of the EPL. Just sacked a manager the players and Toon Army liked a lot for a guy who by all accounts is a total bum.

I'd hate to see him transfer but only because I want all teams to have a playmaker or two.

The More You Know: Andy C. looks like an Oxford, MS-based drummer named Andy as well. Same hair and features. If you ever see a guy on the Square that looks like Andy Carroll, just call him Andy, because that is his name.

been perplexed with all of the Aresenal love? What's the deal? How did everyone start liking Arsenal? Did everyone just start following soccer in 2001 and thus the love?

No way Man City finishes in the top 4 this year. They've been in poor form all year, and Mancini is a terrible manager. He's going to be gone before the end of the year.

Chelsea will be back soon enough. Drogba's in really poor form right now, and he'll snap out of that soon enough. When Lampard comes back Sunday the team will be completely different. I have no worries about them. But Man U is probably the favorite right now.

but I've been an Arsenal fan since 1990 or 91... back in the days of Tony Adams on the backline and Ian Wright up top. And of course, the most unfortunately named David Seaman in goal (though he had a wicked porn 'stache). I was also a big fan of Bergkamp and Overmars in the mid to late 90's.

I'm guessing a lot of people choose to be Arsenal fans because they are good enough that they win championships/trophies (or are at least in the hunt most years) but they aren't Manchester United or Chelsea who just spend money indiscriminately to buy the best players.

Also, although they used to be known for having a pretty boring style of play (some of their most famous players, like Adams or Martin Keown, were defenders) since Arsene Wenger took over in 96 or 97, they have generally played very open, attacking and entertaining soccer. Of course, it helps to have a Thierry Henry when you want to play that way.
