Last week's record: 5-0

This week's predictions:

JCA-42 Viator-20...Hilltoppers continue to roll. Viator left with no clear path to 5 wins.

Benet-24 Pat's-21...This game will go a long way in determining the 2nd tier of the ESCC. Both teams need a win here after coming off tough losses.

CoM-49 Marian-14

Naz-55 MCC-20...Meep Meep

Game of the week:
ND-28 Marist-21..Dons returning home after a huge win @Benet. Tsagalis makes some plays and the D does its part in securing a huge win here.

JCA over Viator....non-JC fans always give JC fans a hard time when we state the Lions give JC fits. Yes....Viator has never beaten JC. I thought they were getting their first win last year. They were up 24-13 late in the 2nd half, and JC appeared to be dead in the water. The Hilltoppers rallied with two late TD's to win 28-24. Viator is already fighting for their playoff lives and are at home. I see this as a trap game for JC. Also, how will they adjust to the loss of Harry Davis? I see a closer game than many expect.

Benet over Pat's....Benet has a nice defense. Pat's seems to be defensively challenged. I see the Redwings bouncing back on the green cement at Hanson.

CoM over Marian of the Heights....don't throw dirt on the Corsairs just yet. They did some nice things offensively against JC. I think they will get 5 wins. It starts this week against the Spartans.

Naz over MCC.....in a dizzying display of D1 talent, the Roadrunners will simply overwhelm the undefeated Hurricane in a manner which will surely impress all their recruits from Woodstock to Joliet......as well as any crows flying overhead.

Marist over ND....definitely the game of the week. ND got a big win at Benet. Tsagalis to Simon might be the most dangerous combo in the ESCC. Marist quietly handed it to Viator last week. Looks like the Redhawks are back offensively, after a one-year hiatus. This could be a shootout. I think Marist has a bit more on offense and defense and will get the big win.

Not much Marist love in the predictions. ND has sold ESCC followers. I'll say this. If the Dons win Friday, they have a good chance of going undefeated.

It's s 2 year rotating schedule. We are in year 2 so both will be on their schedule next year

ESCC used to play 9 conference games, in my opinion I like the way the conference is setup now with a Big Ten type of scheduling with the rotation of schools playing each, yes a school on the playoff bubble may have the year where they may play a few of the top teams but it's not every year

Isn't the conference scheduling also affected by North/South designations? So, if you are a South team, the rotation of whom you will not play will be two Northern teams. I believe the North/South is as follows:

North
CoM
MCC
ND
Pat's
Viator

South
Benet
JCA
Marist
Marian Cath.
Naz

I'm not sure if the schedule is set up for the North to play all the Northern teams every year and have the two rotating South teams off the schedule and vice versa. Anyone have a definitive answer on that?

That's not the way to go, less conference teams make the playoffs, teams can't play neighborhood rivals etc. I personally HATE conferences that have 9 game conference schedules.

I had my count wrong, thought there were 9 teams, thus an 8 game schedule. 9 game conference schedule is no good, so scratch that thought.

I don't believe it works that way. I think everyone drops their last 2 weeks opponents and adds the 2 teams they don't play to weeks 3-4. So Naz drops Viator and Marist, Add CoM and ND. And JCA week 9 !

Actually, for this season and the previous one the ESCC did go to a North/South set-up. You play the other four teams in your division. plus three of the five in the other division. This was done when Woodstock Marian was added to the conference. Take a look at this years schedule. All ten teams have a schedule that fits what I just described. That is not a coincidence. The last two opponents used to drop off the schedule under the previous ESCC system. The ESCC is ALWAYS changing their scheduling decisions,so we will have to see for sure what they do next year. But if they keep the current system a team like JCA, for example, would pick up Notre Dame and St. Pats, and lose two of the following three: Woodstock Marian, St. Viator, Carmel.
