Time to jump into conference play. After a couple weeks, it seems like the preseason predictions of Marist winning conference are looking good. ND, Benet Naz, JCA and MCC should all put up pretty decent challenges.

Agree with above but I think the JCA-SP game could be closer than that.

That ND/Benet result makes the conference race more interesting, even if there is technically no impact on the conference results. Also, I suspect I may have initially underrated MCC. Did not realize they had 17 returning starters. They are looking good heading into the conference slate. IMO, two huge games this week.

Viator over Marian of the Heights....long year for the Spartans.
Marist over Carmel....Marist offense clicking after week 2? Rough first conference game on the road for the Frosh QB and the young Corsairs.
JCA over Pat's....this is a must win for each teams' playoff hopes.
Naz over ND...Game of the Week #1. I suspect this might be low scoring. ND held Benet to 35 yds. of offense in the 1st half and 14 pts. in Lisle. Naz' young defensive talent is a year older and is coming off an impressive shutout of De La Salle. I like Naz' speed in LGP as the difference. Naz should also improve offensively in what is their second game of the year. Should be a good one.
Benet over MCC....GOW #2. if this game was in Woodstock, MCC might get the nod. This could be a statement game for the Hurricanes after their WI tour. Benet will be looking to bounce back after the ND game in Lisle. Don't really have a feel for this game. We will find out a lot about each team in this one.

Viator over Marian: Viators is sneaky tough and Marian is a dormant program

Marist over CoM: CoM is usually a tough win, but Marist won't have any trouble

JCA over Pat's: JCA will get a much needed win over a Pat's team who is on the rebuild

ND over Naz: Coin flip game. Could end up being one of the better games this season in the ESCC

Benet over MCC: Should be a tight one. Benet will earn this win in the 4th quarter

Viator over Marian -simply because it's Marian
Marist over COM- the frosh on the road in conference opener...never easy place to play. If he shines look out to the rest of the league
Pats over JCA - slight edge but nothing has shown JCA has turned the tide. Expected a closer result last week
Naz /ND- Naz by 6; the sting of last years last game winner should be enough. Expect low scoring as both teams have stout Defensive fronts on tape. Roadrunners first test is a big one- can they get to Marist unscathed?
Benet over MCC- tough game but Benet wins, tough loss last week.

MCC upsets Benet

GOTW- ND springs upset over Naz by a FG. Naz defense with a huge hole after stud MLB was kicked out of last weeks game.

Here we go...let the games begin:

Viator over the other Marian...poor, poor Marian of the Heights.
Marist rolls Carmel...sets the stage for a huge game in Week 4.
JCA squeaks past St. Patty's...not sure why everyone is so in love with JCA. Have they even improved from last year...we shall see.
ND over Naz...ND is pretty damn physical and handled Benet rather easily and more than their final score indicated.
Marian Central Catholic BEATS Benet...the Canes are the REAL DEAL and will show it on BOTH sides of the ball this week.

Cmon, ND beat Benet 17-14. If that is handling a team easily, how do you define a close game?

On a last second FG to boot! I keep reading that people said ND manhandled Benet but if they only managed a last second win that means they must have played sloppy football.

That said I still like them, they're very physical and Naz is short a few guys.

Notre Dame could have been up 21-0 in first half, but a few mistakes on their offense and a couple decent plays by Benet ended drives. Notre Dame's defense was good in the first half. Second half was pretty even. Benet's offense had late momentum scoring on two of last four drives.

Viator over Marian by double digits.
Marist over Carmel Big
St Pats over JCA in a close game
ND over Naz they are down the LB and in my opinion they have not proven anything yet this year. Still getting credit for past teams success.
GOW... Marian win over Benet convincingly!! Marian has the ability to make a statement in this game if they come out and play at the ability they are capable of.

Watched the game, watched them win in the waning seconds, so no they didn't dominate. Could have but didn't. I like this ND team and even picked them to win.

Naz- Trusting the CSN rankings here
Benet- Close game I think, not sure how good MCCs first two opponents were and I think Benet is fired up after a tough loss last week, also don't like that MCC is on the road. I would agree with the previous comments that if this game was in Woodstock its hard to not pick the Canes.

JCA by 3 TD's over a bad Pats team
Benet by 2 TD's over MCC. Until MCC can prove they can handle the ESCC grind, I will go with a program that has been more consistent.

JCA is back to JCA against shamrocks
Naz takes out ND despite any missing players
Toss up in Hurricanes/Benet - I'll go Canes

Thinking this is a big week to understand how the conference may shake out

Viator- Marian = Viator + 21 - unfortunately going to be a long season for Marian

Marist - CoM = Marist + 28 - underclassman Q gets to experience D1 pass rush.

JCA - Pats = JCA +3 - after a 3 hour bus ride to go 40 miles, Pats will have issues being sharp

ND - Naz = ND + 6 - ND will drop 7 in coverage leading to quick Naz series, then grind it out on O kicking FG when they stall out in Naz red zone.

Benet - MCC = +10, mistakes from last week should be fixed.

Not saying you're wrong but if that's the strategy I can't see things working out too well for ND.
