Such a wonderful moment to witness when the people who whine about the "cCl rEcRuItS" and then this happens as they get aboslutely wallimopped by a public school program which has a culture of hardwork, focus on the mission, and execution. Reminds me of when they got the same treatment in the 2023 4A title game losing by 3 touchdowns. Notice how they increased in enrollment by over 200 students and then got the multiplier boosting them up two classes. This is how you handle that argument.....by working harder and smarter. Great job East Side!!!!!

All.... Crusader did you go to this game? I listened to 590AM (KLIS) which this year decided to air all the Flyers games. Maurice Scott does the game call. Good announcer and funny. He must of been sitting next to the Viking announcers and they were going nuts the whole game. The more scoring by the Flyers the louder it became and one could hear it all.

Maurice just held pat and called the game above the roar. He did comment about all the Viking fans walking around without coats and that they must be used to that cold cold "Chicaga" weather. Ratsy

Maurice does the PA at the esl home games. Radio announcers Maurice is much more mellow.

My weekly (not really) rant about the officiating...Cory Les who appeared to be StL best player punches one in on 4th down for what was his last hs fb game and was rightfully excited about the play. He celebrates, probably says something the the esl db, and the ref decides he needs to come over and scold him about it. Completely unnecessary. The kid was playing his heart out and showed some emotion. No need to insert yourself in to the game like that.

Agreed completely unnecessary for the player to say anything to the opponent. Did the ref throw a flag? From your description, it seems like he was trying to de-escalate the situation.

This

Throwing a flag would’ve been much worse…

There was nothing to de escalate and the game never got chippy. The esl player walked away. Les didn't follow him or continue anything either. There was no flag thrown but there was no reason for the ref to run in the way he did and say anything to the StL player. Everything doesn't deserve having a conversation about.

Les spun the ball on the ground. That’s why the ref talked to him, which I agree was petty. But he kept his flag in his pocket so I’m not too upset about it. There was no trash talk from either side on that play. I was standing 25 yards away.

Honestly, after all the horror stories I heard about how nasty ESL and their entourage is, I’ll say this. I had several great conversations with ESL fans on Saturday and my experience was overwhelmingly positive. They were also very complementary of our team, our fan base, and our facility. One ESL fan said that most teams would roll over and die after that first half, but StL did not. Both teams starters stayed in til two minutes remained in the game and it was a 13-7 second half.

ESL did have ALOT of penalties called on them, but they were blatantly obvious to anyone who understands the rules. Particularly holds on offense and PI on defense. Their secondary is overly aggressive when they really don’t need to be. Their talent is ELITE, and if they don’t clean that stuff up, it could cost them against a good team like Fenwick.

There was a play in the 1st half I believe where he dropped back and seemingly chucked the ball 60yds in the air. I thought to myself theres no way a kid with that type of arm doesn't play baseball. Quick google search and see hes committed to play for McDonnell at UL next year.

He is a tremendous athlete. He has been committed to Louisville for baseball since before his junior year. If it weren’t for that, he’d be getting D1 offers for football.

D1 wouldn't look at him with his measurables, he would he D3 more then likely maybe D2 and that's not a knock on him that's just the way it is. There are 4 players I can think of on MC that should he D1 and won't be. In the age of transfer portal and passing the eye test, he just won't be on D1 radar. That being said he's an outstanding athlete and tough CCL player for sure

Hes 6'1 210 and ran a 6.7 in the 60. Which translates to ~4.7 in the 40. Those arent just D1 measurables. Those are elite measurables for some of the best LB in the country.

Then he would have received D1 offers regardless of his baseball commitments. Louisville would have offered him football which I'm sure is more financially profitable as baseball rarely gives full D1 rides with their restrictions. Jimmy Rolder was committed to Illinois for baseball but Michigan came in and handed him a D1 football ride which he wisely accepted. Listen he's a great player, and if D1 came in a and gave him a ride then outstanding for him, but I don't think he's a D1 material just with the way College is now. Blame the transfer portal. 10 years ago maybe, not now. If D1 wanted him they would offer him regardless of his baseball commitment.

I was strictly talking about his measurables which are pretty comparable to elite hs LB. And with the new scholarship rules for D1 baseball things will be quite different. Teams arent maxed at 11.7 anymore. Rosters get maxed at 34 so they can technically give out 34 full rides now.

you are comparing the ESL v Vikings results to the state championship game of '23?? Something tells me you did not go to either game, but the Vikings put up 38 points on the Rockets (21 pts was the most the Rockets allowed in their prior 13 games btw), and it was just a two-score game a few minutes into Q4. 59-38 was the final and the Rockets surely deserved the win. So same treatment?? You sure you want to stand by that? And yes, St L did grow by 200 students and competed very well in '25 in the CCL after being bumped by 2 classes. 8-5 is a record to be proud of - especially considering that 4 of the 5 losses were against teams playing this weekend. And STL does work hard & smart - aside from football season, the last 2 boy's seasons in 2025 resulted in a baseball state championship and a 2nd place in soccer - not to mention a sectional runner-up in basketball!
Why can't you and others follow the golden rule in athletics: be a gracious loser and a humble winner!?!?!?

I was literally at the 23 game. This is a slam on the people who go after the Catholic schools for recruiting. And a support of the public schools who outworked their opponents. Rochester was up 27 and settled in on a three touchdown victory while outscoring Larry’s previous high point allowance by 16. Sit down with that retarded behavior.
