Simmons has been talking about this for a little while, and wrote a column about it today. It sounds fantastic. It will be must see TV at D@A's house for every premiere. I looked at some of the episode trailers earlier today. They look incredible.

I remember being in the weight room while in the 10th grade and a very well to do gentlemen who has a lot of monetary power at Miss State at the time walked in and said that USM just dropped out of the bidding for Dupree at 50k.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span> He was dead serious and was in the know. I am not from Philadelphia. (Disclaimer) I was being recruited by USM and was invited to their football camp the summer before my sr. year. While there I saw Dupree riding around in a Cadillac with personal Okalahoma tag with his number. That very next year he transferred but never played. Ended up in New Orleans playing for the breakers I believe. Somehow during the strike year of 85 or 86 he played for the LA Rams. I think.

Oh well another talent wasted. They should add Dontae Walker into the mix. That was another waste.</p>

The Courting of Marcus Dupree by Willie Morris. If you are from Mississippi and love football you will love reading this book. I read it in about 2 days and its over 400 pages. I couldnt put it down.

I've loaned this book to many people and all have found it to be very interesting. There are actually three stories going on in the book and all three will touch you.

I listed it as a summer "must read" in my column for MSM and had a hard time tracking down an extra copy after mine was lost in some stolen luggage.

I believe Univ. of Miss Press is the publisher...

It's right up there with the best football books (Friday Night Lights, Blind Side, etc).
I have an autographed copy around here somewhere.
And for rare and out of print books: biblio.com
