[QUOTE="topdecktiger, post: 129571750, member: 1459051"] Yes, it absolutely does affect qualifications. Markets were not a factor when TCU and West Virginia were added. That's because the Big 12 was replacing, rather than expanding. ESPN and Fox were willing to keep the TV contract intact, provided the Big 12 remained at 10 teams. The money was already there, so long the number of teams stayed the same. That's not at all the situation now. At this point, the contract is already signed. Now, for the Big 12 to get any money out of this, the schools in question have to bring in additional value. One reason for that is they are two extra mouths to feed. That wasn't the case for West Virginia and TCU, because everything was already being split 10 ways before they got there. Not the case now. Whether the SEC & ACC look down on West Virginia is irrelevant. West Virginia joined the Big 12, and it's the Big 12 looking to expand, not the other conferences. You get too hung up on this "arrogance" issue. Arrogance isn't what's going on here. The issue is what value the available teams bring to the Big 12. Frankly, I don't think they bring much. You are talking about schools that don't have a big following or national draw. They aren't going to deliver big ratings. Some of them do reside in big markets. However, there is serious question as to whether they can deliver those markets. I don't think they can. (I'm not the only one thinks that, by the way.) If the figures presented at the meetings show otherwise, that's great. I simply don't believe they will, based on what I said above. Similarly, I don't think the other schools being named can come into the Big 12 and do what TCU has done. TCU was consistently winning 10 games a year before joining the Big 12. None of the other schools are doing that. If they can't do it against the competition they play now, they aren't going to do it in the Big 12. That's not being presumptions. It's being realistic. Virginia Tech won 10 games 8 years in a row after joining the ACC. They never even did that in the Big East. That doesn't support your claim that nobody has "heard from them since." Pesky facts.
