ESPN app

Anybody having problems with the ESPN app not playing when you go to full screen? I can still hear it and I can minimize the screen and see it fine (baseball game) but when I go full screen, it blacks out????

Edit: only happens when I screen mirror, watch on iPad is fine.

I never have issues with mine, but it's been buggy for the past couple weeks.

Haven't had that particular issue, but I have had some issues pulling it up on my iPhone over the last few weeks. Something different every time, though. No sound one day, it keeps asking me to sign in over and over again a different day, and then other times it just won't play at all.

No issues at all with my Firestick or Roku, though

I'm convinced the ESPN app was written by the Iowa Democrat folks... it's just as reliable as theirs was. That's to say.. It's complete trash. Scaling issues? Yes.. mine frequently hangs up. The one on iPhone is especially bad. Usually it just gives me some error about Video Unavailabe please restart player.

Constant buffering... My house can stream Netflix, Prime and Disney+ flawlessly.. and sometimes all three at once depending who's home. But start the hamster running on the wheel in the ESPN app and all hell breaks loose.

And none of that is even bringing up how bloated it is by ESPN trying to push content toward you.

The old WatchESPN app was bulletproof. The new one is garbage.

Yep, and oddly... the old WatchESPN app seems to closer to the version that's on Firestick and Roku, and lo and behold... no issues with those

I've not had any issues using Roku either. I watched a little of the baseball game yesterday and had to sign in again, so should be good to go for the season. I'd been watching women's basketball, but choosing the baseball game might've triggered the need to re-sign in.

I used to have a Roku stick, and it buffered all the time. Then I bought a Roku Ultra about a year ago and it has never buffered even one time.

Works great on the ESPN channel on Roku. Also works great through the Sling app on my iPhone and iPad.

The ESPN app is complete garbage, though. I can’t stream anything, no matter how fast the internet speed. It can’t be as simple as a bug. For some reason, it’s being done on purpose. They are probably trying to force out people who are only using the app with someone else’s login.

I don't think the ESPN app is compatible with screen mirroring, you have to play it though a roku, fire stick, etc. Problem with this is you have to have WiFi for those devises, so if you're streaming with cellular data on the iPad but want to screen mirror to a TV you're probably out of luck. That's been my experience anyway.

You can do that on Apple TV 4K.

I have no problems on either fire stick or Apple TV.

Have you tried using the app on the Apple TV? That’s what I do and have had no problems.
