The whole seven a m sportscenter has been a bama lovefest, which is fine, but the one story on us is about how we enlightened people down here in 'sippi have finally overcome our race problems, with the central figure in the story being James meridith (great story, but not the time to tell it). How bout we talk football please?

Edited to add that I just found the segment online. Actually thought it was good. Very happy to see that they did distinguish between Ole Miss and MSU and feature Holmes. However, I just don't see why MSU being #1 has to be about race relations?

So they did a story on Mississippi State and race relations and featured James Meridith, the guy that had to have armed troops escort him into OLE MISS?? Did they mention Richard Holmes? Probably not because no one really knows his name because his enrollment at MSU went almost unnoticed. Now tell me where the race relation problem was. Holmes said of his first day "there were no catcalls, no racial slurs,…It was quiet and serene. Nothing happened; there was just curiosity and disbelief." He lived in Evans Hall which is set to be demolished. The decision to tear it down must have been racial. Did they say that?

Actually, Holmes was interviewed.
Perhaps the AL portion could have included Church bombings in B'Ham?

The Birmingham church bombings and Bull Connor's firehoses are at least as notorious as Meredith entering Ole Miss. But you never see a story about that when Alabama football is spotlighted. Perhaps it's because to a certain degree the attitudes are still openly existent in Oxford. But they no doubt are in Tuscaloosa too.

ESPN all bammer all the time! Bleacher report did a piece on ANdrew Zow ( the last black quarterback at Bammer) and it was pretty tame from the race relations standpoint. It killed their inbred masses when Sims beat out Coker.

just face it. mississippi = racism. thanks ole miss. i honestly didnt even realize the perception was THIS bad until i saw a story on mississippi state twisted and woven into the story of ole miss. damn.....from where i am standing, that makes zero sense whatsoever, but it makes you realize that anything associated with the state will be associated with james meredith and the transgressions of ole miss.
