I think at least one of the 3 of us won't be bowling, possibly even 2. I think Vandy and Kentucky will definitely not be bowling.

I also think it's very possible the SEC does NOT have a team in the BCS title game this year. Just a feel I have. I think all the top teams have enough holes this year that there won't be a big separation from the top/middle/bottom of the league, and you'll see enough upsets. I'm guessing every SEC team has at least 2 losses, which means we may only get one BCS bid.

I'd have at least 3 SEC teams not bowl eligible, possibly 4. How it shakes out top to bottom would be really tough to predict right now.

What are these huge expectations you're referring to? I think most of us are thinking between 7-5 and 9-3, which puts us in the cotton/outback/gator range. I learned a long time ago to be happy with any of those top 6 on your list. The 7th isn't terrible either, but that's pretty much the cut line for me.

They've got some big time players on their team just like pretty much everyone else in the conference, but I don't see them as being that far ahead of MSU, Ark, and possibly even Florida. They had a huge win against Bama last year that they can hang their hat on, but they also got steamrolled by Arkansas and Auburn and they somehow managed to lose to UK. Fast forward to this year and the offense looked impressive under Garcia, but they give up 37 against East Carolina?

I'm not saying they're no a very strong team, but I'm just not understanding why so many polls/projections seem to think they're clearly the 3rd best team behind Bama and LSU. The only thing I can go with is that they have a fairly easy schedule this year. Even so, watch out for later this year when they're @MSU, @UT, @Ark, and then they have UF at home all in a row.

You'd rather play them on Jan. 1 at the same time as the NFL playoff games? Jan. 2 is just like Jan. 1 this year except with not quite as many hangovers.

if it were on the 1st, you would normally get the 2nd off as well. Makes travel a lot easier.

if we get a bowl game on the 2nd it makes it difficult to go wherever and be back for work without taking off. If you got time to burn not a problem.</p>

Most people traveling to a bowl game wind up taking time off work anyway. This is no different than any other year.

if they would play on the 1st, you could travel on Saturday and Monday and not have to take a day off. That's why most people think this sucks. And I agree.

You are right, most years, you have to take some time off. This year was one where you didn't have to, but b/c of the scheduling now you do.
