ESPN, CSS reach a five-year deal

According to Matt Wyatt's radio show, ESPN and CSS have reached a five-year deal to televise conference sporting events...Matt was quoting a Little Rock television station

CSS will get a MINIMUM of six football games, 20 men's basketball games and tons of baseball and softball games each year through the new agreement

This was predicted here when everybody kept saying ESPN would show every SEC football game...ESPN simply bought the rights to these events, they can do whatever they want with those rights, including dealing them to other networks

that's just pathetic. Way to go ESPN and the SEC. Way to limit the exposure of games to only those that are subscribers to one television programming provider. I mean nobody uses satellite anymore. We all love cable. This is 1982.

Again, is there any reason to believe ESPN would give CSS access to any games without retaining the right to show them on GamePlan? I could be wrong here, but I just cannot see that happening. I know CSS broadcasts aren't typically available through that package but it's a little different when they have to negotiate with ESPN.

But the big appeal of ESPN and the SEC was that you would get all the games on an ESPN channel without having to subscribe to game plan or full court.

Glad I have Comcast... I just hope the broadcast in HD.

I think you will be able to get the same amount of games on dish as you have in the past, but if you want the extra, your just going to have to pay more for ALL of them. Raycom was not available on the dish for me, because my local affiliate was some NYC or Chicago station, but it was if I had GamePlan. I will gladly pay for GamePlan if I know that every single SEC football game will be on there, sans CBS game.
